Has anyone else yet been to the new 'Joker' movie? I saw it at the weekend, and have a feeling that it will split opinion. Whilst we may have been all expecting another villain origin story, what I think the movie is actually about is how struggling mental health actually looks and feels - and how abuse of someone, rather then help has a disastrous effect Now, I realise this is taken to extreme in the movie, it's a powerful mix (with some amazing performances as well). Anyone else seen it? What did you think ? #mentalhealthweek Stellamar - Recruitment & HR https://lnkd.in/emFgagKG

Do you ever reach for an extra slice of pizza or Tim Tam, binge-watch Boy Swallows Universe instead of going to the gym, or buy another pair of shoes rather than save for a holiday? This is 'delay discounting' - our tendency to prefer instant rewards, which can throw off our self-care and mental health goals. By recognising this inclination, we can pivot towards healthier choices. Swap one unhealthy snack for a healthier option, take a brief walk during an episode break, or set a weekly savings goal. Awareness is crucial, and starting small is the key - with discipline, we can improve. Watch the 'Marshmallow Test' video for an adorable look at how early these decisions start. You might spot a mini-you making those very same choices, and remember this the next time you're tempted by that extra piece of choccy during your 8-week challenge. https://lnkd.in/e2jzZA65

🎞️Inside Out 2 🎞️ https://lnkd.in/esA_6fRi A fantastic film to educate children (and adults!) about emotions and mental health, Inside Out 2 is currently in cinemas and is a sequel to the 2015 film Inside Out which cleverly covers emotions Joy, Anger, Disgust, Fear and Sadness as they navigate the mind of a young girl named Riley. The sequel introduces 5 additional emotions as Riley becomes a teenager, Anxiety, Envy, Boredom and Embarrassment, with Anxiety taking the driving seat and making all of Riley's decisions for her. The detailing of anxiety is cleverly demonstrated in the film with beliefs, projections, black and white thinking, negative thoughts and even a panic attack mirrored on screen to give an understanding of what anxiety feels like. If you would like to educate your child further on Mental Health, we deliver Mini Medics Mental Health which allows children to learn about mental health in a simplified, non-heavy, educational and fun way. Perfect for schools, after-school clubs, youth clubs, and community groups! Contact us to find out more 💻 #insideout2 #mentalhealthawareness #childrensmentalhealth #minimedicsmentalhealth #pixar

If you haven’t heard, Elmo put out a tweet earlier this week, simply asking, “Elmo is just checking in! How is everybody doing?” The weight of that simple statement and the outpouring of responses again shines a light on the need for an open dialogue around mental health and emotional wellbeing. It is okay to not be okay. The conversations during our Mental Health Summit Workshop reminded employers and HR leaders about the significance of establishing a workplace where employees feel at ease to ask for help. (https://lnkd.in/eZgCcZb5 ) Even the simple inquiry, “Do you have a support group; do you have a friend?” can unveil a great deal. As highlighted by Hoda Kotb, people feel comfortable talking to Elmo, explaining the flood of responses over the last few days. https://lnkd.in/e-X5AD8j #PBGH #PBGHPA #PeopleYouTrust #mentalhealth #emotionalwellbeing #elmo
