Today, I’m reflecting on the bold path laid out by industry leaders to achieve net-zero aviation by 2025, which was shared at the Aero Club of Washington. Their ambitious roadmap hinges on expanding sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) usage and developing electric, hybrid, and hydrogen-powered aircraft. These efforts require a collaborative ecosystem involving companies, government agencies, and educational institutions. Michael Amalfitano of Embraer Executive Jets highlighted the importance of partnerships in scaling up SAF and electrification. Embraer’s initiatives range from 100% SAF tests to electric ag-plane trials and hybrid-electric technology. Scott Lewis at World Energy shared how they’re working toward producing a billion gallons of SAF by 2030 and scaling their California and Houston facilities. Billy Nolen from Archer emphasized the value of government policies and investment in driving sustainable aviation technologies. Archer’s Midnight eVTOL aims to redefine accessible flight, thanks to federal support and regulatory collaboration. It’s inspiring to see how far-reaching partnerships are essential for pushing these innovations forward. To achieve net zero, we must invest in training a skilled workforce and foster cooperation across the supply chain, government, and academia. Let’s work together toward a cleaner, greener future for aviation. #NetZero #SustainableAviation #FlySkylink

I believe sustainable aviation is making significant strides, especially with the advancements in alternatives like eVTOLs, battery-electric flight, and hydrogen power cells. However, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) stands out to me as the most viable solution for reducing aviation's climate impact. It's encouraging to see industry leaders advocating for increased investment and clearer regulations to support these technologies. For instance, German aviation leaders are currently investigating what 100% SAF framework could look like - what regulations need to be in place, as well as how technology and supply chains will transform. As we navigate this transition, it's clear that there's no single solution. Achieving net-zero emissions in aviation will require a combination of innovative approaches, and I'm optimistic that we're on the right path. It's inspiring to witness the collective effort and determination across the industry to make sustainable aviation a reality. #aviation #sustainability #aviationindustry

LYGG has signed for up to 200 Ampaire hybrid-electric propulsion units. The rollout will begin by upgrading engines for Cessna Grand Caravans, and expand to larger aircraft across the regional fleet. Ampaire’s AMP Drive™ hybrid-electric powertrain combines a fuel-efficient engine with electric propulsion, optimizing fuel savings and reducing emissions by up to 50 %. Additionally, as the system is fully compatible with SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel), further emission reductions can be achieved. At Ampaire, our mission is to make sustainable aviation accessible and practical for operators today, not in some distant future. This partnership with LYGG allows us to bring our hybrid-electric technology to underserved regions, proving that cleaner, lower cost, more efficient aviation is within reach, starting now. https://lnkd.in/dZSyadpp

Moving towards our goal to achieve 100% SAF by 2030, we have great news to share. An Airbus A350 powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines using 100% sustainable aviation fuel shows significant non-CO2 emission reductions. In-flight measurements from an A350 aircraft using 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) show a significant reduction in soot particle emissions and formation of contrail ice crystals compared to using conventional aviation fuel Global model simulations estimate 26% reduction in contrails' climate impact when using 100% SAF Find out more here. https://lnkd.in/eg_A2KmR #teamairbus #airbus #aerospace #aviation #aircraft #sustainableaviation #sustainaviationfuel #saf #A350 #longrangeleader #widebodyaircraft #nextgen #trentxwb #rollsroyce

Myth: Electric Aviation is only a long-term solution Reality: At Dovetail Electric Aviation, we are proving that electric aviation is not just a future concept but a present reality. Our mission is to certify a 100% electric aircraft within the next two years, demonstrating our commitment to making real, impactful changes now. We prioritize integrating advanced technologies into existing aircrafts to accelerate the transition to zero-emission flights. Our focus is on delivering commercially viable, nil-emissions aviation solutions through simple aircraft modifications. This approach allows us to quickly scale up production and have the biggest impact in the shortest time possible. Starting with battery electric solutions, we are following a clear certification path, initiated with CASA in Australia and EASA in Europe. This enables us to bring zero-emission products to market faster than hydrogen alternatives. However, we are also preparing for the future by integrating hydrogen fuel cells into our powertrains, ensuring we remain at the forefront of clean aviation technology. We make it nil emissions. We make it economically viable. Wake it fast. True Zero Emission. This is the way. #ElectricAviation #SustainableFlight #ZeroEmissions #DovetailElectricAviation #GreenTechnology #AviationInnovation #FutureOfFlight #HydrogenFuelCells #BatteryElectric #RetrofitRevolution #CleanAviation #AviationSustainability
