There’s more to corporate training than delivery of sessions. You want to help people develop and support your firms success? Start expanding beyond delivering instructor led sessions. I’m talking about people who focus on training vs subject matter experts who train specific topics as one of many duties. I discussed the other skills a trainer should develop either to improve learning delivery and/or begin to serve the company at a more strategic level. Along the way I share links of people who can help you develop these skills and fumble with my reading glasses. NBT Live: from the mobile studios

In a recent Train the Trainer course I had the privilege of delivering, we delved into the crucial role trainers play as facilitators of learning, mentors, and coaches. A key takeaway was the recognition that one of the most significant challenges in training is ensuring consistent learner engagement. To address this, we explored a range of innovative platforms and tools that can enhance the learning experience, moving beyond the conventional reliance on PowerPoint presentations. The session highlighted the importance of adopting a dynamic and interactive approach to training, fostering a more impactful and enriching learning environment. I love training. I really do. Let's talk.

Want people to learn more? Focusing on proper learning techniques is key. One size does NOT fit all in the classroom, office, manufacturing space. You need to work on higher level training programs to get learning and BEST PRACTICE: Build a training program where knowledge is passed from one employee to another (through monitoring for effectiveness). When I train you, I reinforce what I know and have learned.

Day 3 of 6: This lesson is one of the most overlooked in corporate training You're new to corporate training or you're a subject matter expert that delivers training as one of many aspects of your role. Have a clear learning journey. Use a crawl - walk - run progression of knowledge that builds in a logical order. I see trainers routinely launch into sharing a firehose of information in a jumbled mess of points leaving their audience confused and glazed over. And that firehose of information provides no context clues about importance or how the information fits together. Or they'll launch into a presentation assuming the audience has a certain knowledge level. It's like walking into a movie that's half over. ✅ Understand your audience's existing understanding - use presession surveys or ask them at the start ✅ Start with the easiest, most fundamental topic first ✅ Build your topics in a logical progression A-B-C-D-E ✅ Call back to previous topics to reinforce them and show the learning progression Keep your points focused on the key NEED TO KNOW information and them arrange them in a logical progression. If you need help visualizing all that the NBT Session Planning Tool can help. If you throw ball of spaghetti at the wall and hope your learners sort it out all you get is a mess. Instead take them on a learning journey from A to B to C so they build confidence and understanding. How can you tweak your current material to be in a more logical flow? What was the most jumbled and confusing training you've ever attended?

I have just completed the course "How to Design and Deliver Training Programs" by Jeff Toister! 🤩 Three years ago, I began my journey in Learning and Development within the development field as a facilitator and trainer of training content related to career planning and life skills. Over the years, I have participated in several (Training of Trainers - TOT) programs that significantly enhanced my skills. However, I have always believed that having a solid academic and practical reference for any skill or knowledge is one of the best ways to learn. This belief was implemented during the How to Design and Deliver Training Programs course. It not only enriched my experiences but also helped me understand the academic definitions of concepts I had been applying based on previous training. Clarifying these definitions and concepts has made my learning journey much deeper and more structured. Here are some of the key insights I gained from this course: • Accurately analyzing trainees' needs. • Designing innovative and inspiring training programs. • Delivering content interactively to maximize engagement and impact. • Evaluating outcomes and measuring effectiveness to ensure goals are met. For me, this course was not just a learning experience but an opportunity for personal growth and an enhancement of my ability to create impactful and sustainable learning environments. As someone who strongly believes in the power of effective training to empower individuals and support communities, this course was a pivotal step toward achieving this vision. If you share a passion for empowering learners, I would love to hear your thoughts. What tools or strategies have helped you design effective training programs? How to Design and Deliver Training Programs" by Jeff Toister:https://lnkd.in/d_fYCnXp

Now then, who has sold their soul to the untrained trainer? Training is an essential aspect of any profession, but have you ever thought about the consequences of delivering training without being trained yourself? 🤔 It can have detrimental effects on both the trainer and the trainees. How can you ensure quality learning if you haven't been equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively train others? 💭 Delivering training without proper training yourself can lead to misinformation, confusion, and a lack of credibility. Would you trust a doctor who never went to medical school? What about a pilot who never learned how to fly a plane? Training is a specialised skill that requires a 'particular set of skills' to ensure that information is conveyed accurately and effectively. 📚 Not being trained to train can also result in a waste of time and resources for both the trainer and the organisation. Inadequate training can lead to unproductive sessions, demotivated participants, and ultimately, a failure to achieve the desired learning outcomes. ⏳ So, before you step into the role of a trainer, ask yourself: Have I received proper training on how to train effectively? Am I equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality training sessions? Investing in your own training as a trainer is crucial to ensuring that you provide valuable and impactful learning experiences for your audience. 🌟 Want to avoid training hell? Online vs. In-Person Training: What’s Your Experience? 🤔 After another Speak with Confidence™ training, led in the classroom, by our outstanding trainers Mark Shepherd and Sue Hana Sheikh, we are looking at the key differences between online and in-person learning. Our data for 2024 shows that in-person Speak with Confidence™ trainings have an impressive NPS (Net Promoter Score) of 88, while online sessions follow closely with 81. NPS measures how likely participants are to recommend the training to others — a strong indicator of satisfaction and value. On the one hand, in-person sessions bring a powerful dynamic — live interaction, real-time feedback, and the chance to fully engage with others. The energy and hands-on practice are hard to replicate online. On the other hand, online trainings are all about flexibility. Participants value the ability to join from anywhere, eliminating the need for travel while still experiencing high-impact learning. Both formats have their strengths — which one works best for you? We’d love to hear your thoughts.
