Alejandro Garcia, our own Dr. Alan Osborn , Isaac Morrison Paul Corfield Ian Corfield and Phil smith have started the conversation. Let's sort all we can. Change the way we are doing recruitment and training to match the modern world. A scheme fit for purpose now and tomorrow. A change needs to come. Together we are stronger. Thoughts and comments below. #scaffolding #scaffolders #scaffoldtraining #scaffoldrecruitment

How to improve the scaffold training scheme and attract more people to the industry I've heard dozens of scaffolders complain about the scaffold training and the lack of good scaffolders. That's why we discussed scaffold training during the 3rd episode of Scaffold Talks. There were many suggestions to improve the training and the industry as a whole, so I've made a 1-page summary of the main ideas. The document is available online to anyone for comments and suggestions. Now it's a list of bullet points. Let's all develop the document, together, and develop a plan to • Improve the scaffold training to get better scaffolders and safer structures • Attract the younger generations so the scaffold and construction industries can continue in the future • Offer scaffolding as an attractive profession, and not "the only" option for school dropouts is known for today I'll combine all comments into a new document. Write your ideas and the document will save automatically. 👉 Link to the document: https://lnkd.in/egiFzTtF #scaffolding #construction #civilengineering #scaffolddesign #temporaryworks

It's a shared document, you may not agree with everyone's ideas but that shouldn't stop you from adding your own. It's just another step on the path to gradually, pragmatically and democratically shaping the industry to meet the needs of the present, and more importantly the future. Please share 🙏🏻 #scaffolding #future #innovation #management #training #safety

Quackery : An Erosion of Standards and Best Practices in Construction Industry. Quackery is the act of practices by an individuals, organisations or companies engaging in a services or unethical involvement or claiming an expertise in an area where they do not have qualifications or possesses the required training. Listen! Quackery could happen within the same industry, say a registered chemical engineer claiming to have expertise in construction because he's a registered Engineer. Architect claiming to be a structural engineer, a Land Surveyor posing as a Quantity Surveyor because their line of responsibilities seems interrelated. In COREN, there are 4cadres in the pyramid of hierarchy recognized. Engineers, Technologists, Technicians, Craftsmen, each of this cadre's level of education, training, and years of experience differs. Hence, their level of responsibility is different. Craftsman would not lead a team where Technician is, Technologist would not assume the position meant for an Engineer. No doubt, this has eaten deep into some professions especially Engineering, Construction Industry is so susceptible that it is very tasking to distinguish between genuine professionals and unqualified individuals. This lack of expertise has hindered the safety, quality, and operational standards. Engaging with quacks or participating in quackery poses obvious risks to safety, reputation, project success, and resource utilization, loss of lives and property, and potential litigation. e.t.c Aside Impersonation, Falsifying Credentials and Certificates, Practicing without License, Building against Codes of standards, Breaching oath of secrecy and Unethical divulging of information, Misrepresentation among others are equally forms of quackery. Curtailing this quackery menace, stakeholders in the built-in environment have to play their respective roles. * COREN should further empower Engineering Regulations Monitoring (ERM) team in discharging their duties, some of this teams at states level are not Mobile and adequately equipped with necessary tools to perform optimally * Qualified Professionals should shun sharp practices, follow the operational standards, and protect the ethics of the profession * Professionals should be up-to-date with the trends in their profession by attending Technical Sessions, Trainings, Workshops and Seminars, Annual General Meetings and Conferences * Annual practicing license renewal is very important, it's every practicing professionals responsibility and distinguishes you from quackery. * Clients should be aware the cost of hiring quacks is as doubled as hiring professionals. Hence, jettison the act of cutting cost at the detriment of safety and quality. ........................ Read the last part in the comment section

Learning to distinguish between different types of wood flooring is an essential property adjusting step that takes practice. Did you pass our identification quiz? When it comes to most contemporary designs, the materials look & feel very similar but the sticker price varies widely! A misidentification could mean 💰 in under or overpayments on a claim. If the flooring is still intact during your inspection, ask the policyholder if they have a remnant you could look at - they may even still have the box with the manufacturer’s information listed on it. TIP: Spend time in the flooring aisles of a home improvement store to see the differences in person! Compare the quality, look, & feel of the different varieties. Take some samples home to build your own field materials kit too 🛠 CATI has training opportunities that will help you expand your knowledge! Hands-on instruction in our mockup facilities in Dallas offer intensive practice in building components & repair processes. Check out the “CATI Certified Adjuster – Residential Essentials” course or the “Field Adjuster Kickstart” training. If you can’t join us in person, CATI’s online “Essentials of Construction and Materials Identification” course is a great option for building a solid foundation in flooring as well as other building components commonly affected in property losses such as roofing, drywall & finished carpentry. Explore these options & many more via the CATI Learning Center at https://lnkd.in/gBTqN25J
