and mediation, we see firsthand how co-parenting disputes can severely affect the mental well-being of parents and, by extension, their children. Effective mediation is not just about settling disputes; it’s about guiding parents through high-conflict situations in a way that safeguards their mental health. Here’s how mediation can make a difference: 1. Mediation offers a safe, neutral space for parents to express their concerns, reducing the emotional stress that often accompanies co-parenting conflicts. 2. By guiding parents towards practical agreements, mediation helps reduce the ongoing strain of unresolved disputes, fostering a more stable environment. 3. With a mediator’s support, parents can develop communication strategies that help prevent future conflicts, mitigating stress in the long term. 4. Exploring each parent’s perspective allows for deeper understanding, which can ease the emotional burden of conflict. 5. When parents reach agreements through mediation, the reduced tension positively affects their children, which in turn can alleviate parental stress. By recommending mediation to your clients, you’re not just facilitating resolution; you’re supporting their overall well-being and the well-being of their children. If your clients are struggling with high-conflict co-parenting situations, we’re here to help them navigate towards a more peaceful resolution. "Should I seek couples counseling for domestic violence?" Domestic violence is a critical issue that requires specialized intervention. When a relationship is abusive, physically or emotionally, the traditional approach of couples counseling can do more harm than good. While it may seem like a step toward healing, couples counseling in cases of domestic violence is not only ineffective but can also be dangerous. Find out more in our blog. https://lnkd.in/g3fDyhS6

A key aim of positive behaviour support is reducing restricitve practices. We know that when people are vulnerable to presenting with behaviours of concern and they have a significant learning disability, they are also very vulnerable to restrictive practices being put into place to manage that behaviour. We use positive behaviour support to understand the behaviour and put approapriate supports and strtagies into place proactively to avoid the use of restrcitions and to improve the quality of support for the person.https://zurl.co/viXE

Strategies used in our Live Learn Grow group come from the ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) model. The goal of ACT is to maximise people’s potential and to live a rich, full and meaningful life. Strategies taught in the group include things like being present in the moment, opening up and making room for what is happening in the current moment, stepping back and looking at your thoughts from a new perspective and living to your values. If you think this is something you’d like to know more about, contact Counselling& 🖥 counsellingand.com.au 📞 0419 036 763 📧 hello@counsellingand.com.au #ndis #disability #disabilitysupport #livelearngrow

🤷🏼♀️Do you receive advice from your family even when you haven't asked for it? This could be a sign that they are still viewing you as a child and not the adult that you are. That is their issue and not yours. 👓The way other people view us is not always based on the reality of who we are. We cannot be responsible for how other people see us. 😌As frustrating as that may be, once we recognise this and find a way to accept this truth and let go of our need to be accepted and approved of by others it allows us the freedom to be our authentic selves. To focus on self-acceptance and authenticity. 💃🏼To be who we were born to be...no longer to be what we feel other people need us to be. #NotMyResponsibility #OwnYourPerception #BeYourself #AuthenticLiving #StayTrue #SelfAcceptance #BeYou #InnerPeace #NoApprovalNeeded #SelfWorth #LiveYourTruth #YouDoYou #MindYourMindset #SelfValidation #UnapologeticallyMe #copelandcounselling #counselling #counseling #counsellingyoungpeople #counsellingadults #counsellingadolescents #counsellingneurodiversity #counsellingservices #counsellingsupport #counsellingleighonsea #counsellingchildren #counsellingteens #counsellingonline #telephonecounselling #remotecounselling

Couples who are separating can believe that the role of counselling has ended along with their relationship. However, the first 12 months post separation can involve the most intense set of issues. The first step is to sort a parenting plan and property settlement, and #RelationshipsAustralia offers free hours of mediation to assist with this. Bringing those plans alive in the day to day, when emotions are still settling, can take work. There can be a role for a different sort of counselling, focused entirely on "how we get on to do the right thing by our kids?" This is not about a historical dig into the past, but working in the present and future. In this SMH article, the possibility of this is canvassed. Relationships Australia is ready to assist. https://lnkd.in/dgyN7CKz
Could this be the best way to navigate a tricky split with kids?
