Dead space in the breathing circuit is the space where inhalation and exhalation coincide. Patients breathe in and out of the same tube, they could inhale unfiltered (containing CO2) exhaled gas. 1) The portion of the endotracheal tube which extends out of the trachea (from the mouth to the breathing circuit) 2) The elbow on the breathing circuit 3) Any connector used between the end of the tube and the breathing circuit (e.g., CO2 adapters, apnea alarm adapters, etc.) 4) The Y piece at the end of a Y circuit. #Ventilator #deadspace #Pumnolonogy #RRT #RT #ventilation #Lungs #Respiratory

Does reconnection to the ventilator for 1 hour following a spontaneous breathing trial reduce reintubation rates? Read more in the June issue of the journal CHEST®: hubs.la/Q02CWC4Z0 #JournalCHEST #MedEd Interpretation: Significant alveolar derecruitment was observed at the end of an SBT and was markedly more pronounced with a T-piece than with PSV. Reconnection to the ventilator for 1 h allowed complete recovery of alveolar derecruitment.

First Negative Pressure ventilator that applies pressure ONLY where it’s needed or wanted, the chestwall! First NPV designed to function as an extra set of respiratory musculature to perform work of breathing while learning the contour/shape of each patient’s chest wall, maintaining natural position of chest wall to avoid creating barrel chest during continuous/long term use.

A while back, we announced a new range of products - Escape Respirators. While we did highlight the Escape Respirator Mask and the Escape Respirator with Hood, there was still one more product within the line that had yet to make its debut. However, we're pleased to announce that the Emergency Escape Breathing Device (SK1203) is now available, certified, and ready to go! ✅ The SK1203 is a compressed air open circuit breathing apparatus with a hood, used for escaping from all environments that are potentially dangerous because of the presence of fumes or lack of oxygen. It is designed to create a constant airflow of 15 minutes thanks to a 2 l300 bar cylinder which is directly connected to the valve/reducer and is provided with a gauge that continuously indicates the pressure inside the cylinder. If you'd like to learn more about the SK1203, you can check it out here: https://lnkd.in/gk2WtRsT Browse the full range of escape respirators here: https://lnkd.in/d4RkBGiP #pH7 #escape #escaperespirator #respirator #emergency #spasciani

In October 2024 Percussionaire recalled certain Phasitron Breathing Circuits due to risk of nickel exposure (FDA RECALL INFORMATION: https://lnkd.in/eq7k46xd). As an immediate replacement alternative, CircuitLife LLC offers the CLT-210 Therapeutic Breathing Circuit that is suitable for use with IPV devices and has been on the market and safely used by hospitals and in patient’s homes since early 2020. CircuitLife circuits have not been recalled and are not impacted by this action. Please see the attached FAQ on using the CircuitLife CLT-210 circuit with Percussionaire IPV devices.
