Earth Day gives individuals, companies, and governments an opportunity to reflect on the health of our planet and what we can do to protect it—now and for future generations. For Q+P, we had an early Earth Day celebration over the weekend: our 2024 WWF #ClimbForNature team—our biggest yet—climbed the steps of the CN Tower to raise money for wildlife conservation and natural habitat protection. While every day can feel like Earth Day for a firm like ours, the growing focus on nature among our clients and across industries gives us hope that this is a priority for everyone. Through our memberships in the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) Forum and the Canadian TNFD Consultation Group, we are contributing to the implementation of nature-related disclosures and leverage those insights when guiding clients on the importance of adopting nature into their strategies. We feel fortunate to work with many sustainability leaders who, like us, see a future where nature and business can thrive together. #EarthDay #Sustainability #TNFD

I am excited to share this article published by the Social Development for Communities Foundation, where I tried to explore the multidimensional nature of Human-Wildlife Conflict in Uttarakhand. To check the full article: - https://lnkd.in/dihXegtT
Our world is getting more crowded, and the common belief that human-wildlife conflict is mainly due to local communities encroaching on wildlife habitats is too simplistic. In her article, Vaishnavi Paliya argues that we can't solve human-wildlife conflict in isolation because cultivated lands, habitation, and forests are interconnected and support people's livelihoods. Simply offering compensation isn't enough. Instead, we need a planned, multidimensional approach that reduces conflict in the long term. A good starting point is to reassess the relationship between humans and wildlife, as protecting only one side is outdated and unsustainable. 🦁🐘 Read the full article here : https://lnkd.in/dihXegtT #humanwildlifeconflict #enviroment #uttarakhand #climatechange #mitigation #widlife #himalayas

Today is #WorldEnvironmentDay - a time to recognise the great work being done by researchers, ecologists and community volunteers in saving our endangered species. It's a fascinating effort where #technology plays a critical role - and can bring about new innovations. NSW Smart Sensing Network has seen this in many projects; from the usage of AI to detect animal calls, airborne IR cameras to detect koalas, to RF sensing for tracking birds movement. You can find our full list of projects here: https://lnkd.in/diH2yx3t #biodiversity #conservation #smartsensing
Protecting NSW’s unique environment is a team effort 💪 This #WorldEnvironmentDay, we're shining a light on some of our amazing people working to conserve native plants, animals and ecological communities under the Saving our Species program. Indigenous and local communities have sustainably managed their lands for centuries, offering vital resources and global benefits like climate protection and wildlife habitats. Yet, many of these lands lack legal recognition, leaving them vulnerable to exploitation. WRI is committed to raising awareness of the value of community lands and amplifying the voices of those who protect them. Thanks to the incredible effort of more than 150 volunteers we were able to distribute 5,000+ Stand Up for Nature and Climate Action Now signs as well as tens of thousands of our election scorecards in the lead up to the Queensland election. This HUGE people-powered effort helped win some key policy commitments from the Queensland LNP, including: 👏 Support for legislating Queensland’s Australian-leading 75% by 2035 emission reduction target. ☀️ A Solar for Renters policy that is funded to help 7,500 households. 🌳 A commitment to not change Queensland’s vegetation management laws. 🐨 Funding for 150 extra rangers in the next four years for the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service and Indigenous Land and Sea Rangers. Queensland still has a long way to go to protect threatened species, expand national parks and decarbonise our economy – but we have an amazing community that will keep fighting for the changes we need.

Elders have always taught us that everything is connected - the water, the land, the animals, and the people. Today, we're seeing PFAS chemicals move through these sacred connections, from our waterways to the traditional foods. When our native fish, deer, and waterfowl carry these forever chemicals, it doesn't just threaten their survival - it disrupts cultural practices and food sovereignty that have sustained Indigenous communities for generations. Join us to learn how our Indigenous fire management and restoration work is helping protect both wildlife and our community from these harmful substances. Together, we can heal Country. #IndigenousKnowledge #LandBack #EnvironmentalJustice #CulturalBurning #WildlifeProtection #Hoohehculturalburn #Hoohehreforestation This project was made possible through support provided by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and The Nature Conservancy, under the terms of Grant Agreement # 1903.23.078663.
