This report showcases our dedication to being a frontrunner in the energy transition, our care for people and the environment, and applying fair business practices. Our vision of being the partner for progress continues to drive our ambitious sustainability strategy, which we make integral to all our operations. We are focused on developing, innovating, building, and operating storage infrastructure that supports our partners in their decarbonization efforts. We wholeheartedly believe in building transformative partnerships while prioritizing safety and sustainability. We run our operations responsibly, ensuring the well-being of current and future generations. Globally, our terminals provide safe and reliable tank storage solutions needed to ensure global energy and chemicals flows. We are dedicated to decarbonizing our operations and targeting #netzero Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions by 2040. 2023 underlined again the urgent need for cleaner energy sources and the growing demand for sustainable solutions. We made significant strides last year, including a land agreement for the greenfield development of new energy infrastructure in the Port of Rotterdam. We continued to focus on sustainable growth. We advanced greenfield and brownfield investments in chemicals, gas, and new energy infrastructure. In our portfolio shift we grew the share of bio-based products we store and again reduced the share of fossil fuels, while expanding our hydrogen and ammonia capabilities. Good news about our sustainability journey! We are converting the melting process in our Hällekis insulation plant in Sweden from coke-fired furnaces to electric melting, estimated to reduce the plant’s scope 1 and 2 emissions by approximately 80%. The project marks a big step forward in serving our customers across the Nordics with insulation that offers a low carbon footprint. The investment aligns with Owens Corning's science-based goal to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent by 2030. “As a market-leading actor in our sector we recognize the impact of investments into our operations, and we are excited for this step towards reducing carbon emissions. Replacing our coke-fired furnaces to electric melting from renewable electricity will have a significant impact towards our sustainability goals and will also strengthen our position even further to help meet our customers’ expectations on the European market”, says Beatrice Hallén, Senior Sustainability Leader Insulation Business Europe at Owens Corning. Focus on #Sustainability – We are proud to announce the publication of the fourth edition of our Sustainability Report. In fiscal year 2022/23, we successfully implemented many key milestones in our sustainability strategy and continued to drive sustainable change. The report shows that we view our ambitious contribution to sustainability as a responsibility towards future generations. That is why we have created a new corporate function called "Sustainability & Technology". This function brings together all our expertise in the various areas of sustainability and related fields. This way, we are able to anchor sustainability even more firmly throughout the entire Wieland Group and thus position ourselves as fit for the future. In the report, we present pioneering projects in the areas of decarbonization and electrification. At Wieland we were able to reduce our Scope 1 and 2 emissions by ten percent, in part by increasing our own electricity generation from renewable energies by more than 42 percent. Although we have already celebrated many successes in implementing sustainability in the company, we will continue to work ambitiously on the further development and implementation of our sustainability strategy in the coming fiscal year. "We know that sustainability is an ongoing process that requires continuous efforts. However, we are determined to continue pursuing this ambitious path, to persevere with our efforts, and to keep on reaching our sustainability milestones, in order to create a future worth living in for the coming generations," said Dr. Erwin Mayr, CEO of the Wieland Group.
