AFAY Health Initiative we work hand-in-hand with communities to co-create impactful solutions. 🎥 Watch this insightful feedback from participants at our Menstrual Health Workshop at St Louis Grammar School, Ibadan One step at a time, we are demystifying Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and breaking the silence and stigma around menstrual health and hygiene while encouraging girls to speak up for themselves. Period poverty is more than a lack of sanitary products—it includes the absence of accurate information about menstrual health and we are bridging this gap by educating young girls and training them as changemakers #adolescenthealth #menstrualhealth #menstruation #periodpoverty #empoweringgirls #changemakers #leaders #sdgs #Girls

What's one way that you can combat #PeriodPoverty? Provide a cost-effective solution to manage periods! That's what we're doing, in coordination with youth organisation We for Change, in Sindhuli District, Nepal. As part of a 2-day workshop, a total of 18 girls, aged between 15 and 24, were given a step-by-step guide on how to make their own reusable pads as well as comprehensive education on sexual and reproductive health and rights. With the help of trained professionals and experienced instructors, the girls learnt how to create high-quality pads that can be washed and reused for years to come! #PeriodStigma #GirlsRights #UntilWeAreAllEqual #GenderEquality

Despite their numbers, they have not been traditionally considered a health priority in many countries. Health needs of young people have been limited, they often have limited access to information, services and resources. Negative health consequences of adolescents can pass from one generation to next , that's why addressing the needs of adolescents is an intergenerational investment with huge benefits to subsequent generations #Pharmaincubationhub #Adolescenthealthawareness #Socialimpactproject #BreakingtheSilence

Did you know that many girls do not have complete and accurate understanding of menstruation as a normal biological process? This calls for menstrual education in our homes, schools and society since educating girls before their first period on menstruation, builds their confidence, contributes to social solidarity and encourages healthy habits as well as help them surpass risks involved in making uninformed sexual reproductive health decision. Also, educating the young boys will prepare them in contributing towards eradicating cultural stereotypes on menstruation. The impact of climate change on health is well-documented, but evidence is only beginning to emerge on how it affects sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Climate change factors can contribute to negative maternal and neonatal health outcomes, disrupt contraceptive access, and increase the prevalence of gender-based violence and harmful practices like female genital mutilation and child marriage. Yet, much remains unknown. #ClimateChange #SRHR #HealthImpact #MaternalHealth #ReproductiveRights #GenderEquality #ClimateAndHealth #PublicHealth #EvidenceBasedPolicy #SustainableDevelopment #GenderBasedViolence #ChildMarriage #FGM #GlobalHealth #PolicyChange #HealthEquity

Everyone, regardless of their sexual or gender identity, has the right to be their authentic self, which includes having access to the care that they need to lead a happy and healthy life. Non-Binary people continue to face barriers to sexual and reproductive health care due to discrimination or lack of provider knowledge. This International Non-Binary People’s Day, let’s work together to provide culturally-safe, stigma-free sexual and reproductive health services for these communities. Learn more about the Government of Canada’s support to improve access to these services and address the barriers to gender-affirming care: https://ow.ly/X8WX50SrYbS #NonBinaryPride
