It has been a pleasure to contribute to IPEMC 2024-ECCE Asia Conference with our paper "Model Predictive Control Strategy for High-Power Wind Turbine based on Paralleled Active Neutral Point Clamped Converter" held in Chengdu, China. My PhD co-supervisor Yanbo Wang presented a poster on my behalf analyzing the application of FCS-MPC within the grid-side controller of 14MW wind turbine comprising two paralleled ANPC conversion lines. The study describes the integration of proposed MPC-based control algorithm into Converter Control Unit (CCU) and addresses the corresponding real time implementation issues. Finally, the operating performance of the WECS is evaluated through HiL testing. The FCS-MPC is a promising control method for high-power applications. However, its industrial standardization remains limited. This paper addresses real-time implementation challenges, such as delay compensation and efficient execution of FCS-MPC algorithm. The findings provide valuable insights for the practical application of FCS-MPC in the context of high-power wind turbines. The detailed Hardware-in-the-Loop testing is performed to verify the proposed control strategy and assess operational performance of the power conversion solution from Ingeteam (https://lnkd.in/eiSqX-KS..). This HiL platform can address strict time constraints in model computing of power electronics, and perform accurate real-time simulations. This work is an outcome from my industrial PhD at Ingeteam Wind Energy and AAU Energy. The full paper will soon be available on IEEE Xplore Digital Library. I would like to express my gratitute to my colleagues Yanbo Wang, Joseba Arza Alonso, zhe chen for their contributions, and acknowledge Ingeteam for the support provided for HiL testing. #renewables #renewablesenergy #windenergy #IPEMC_2024_ECCE_ASIA #ingeteam #aau #aauenergy

We are presenting at the last day of IGRC2024 two interesting topics together with my colleague Tjebbe Vroon and Huib Blokland and Demetris Palochis from TNO. 🎤 The first topic is a about developing an algorithm for optimal sensor placement in the gas gird: it is practically not feasible to install in every single station sensors and monitor them remotely and by using this innovative algorithm, network operators can find the optimal places for installation. And this procedure facilitates the #digitization in the gas network. 🎤 The second topic that we are presenting is about the role of #gas and #hydrogen network in the system integration and the necessity of having contribution of Power to Gas and Gas to Power while we are focusing on electrification of energy demand in the residential sector. Results of our study shows that having hydrogen alternative and PtG can create several advantages for the energy system and specifically interconnected electricity and gas distribution networks can play a crucial role in the energy transition by preventing #electricitygrid #congestion and reducing the investment cost required for reinforcement of electricity network.
