A Benchmark in Exceptional Customer Service: My Experience with Lenovo ⭐⭐ I recently faced a challenging situation with my Lenovo tablet, which had malfunctioned twice within a short period of time, despite minimal usage. As you can imagine, this was incredibly frustrating, and I felt compelled to reach out for assistance, hoping for a resolution. Initially, the journey to get the issue addressed was not easy. The standard procedures and policies made it difficult to find a satisfactory solution, and I began to lose faith. However, when I reached Lenovo's leadership team with the issue through email, specifically Mr. Santosh Kumar Mohanty and Mr. Ajay Gupta stepped in and completely changed the course of my experience. Their approach was nothing short of Exemplary for the leaders and other brands. They took the time to understand the full context of the problem, listened carefully to my concerns, and offered a solution that truly reflected Lenovo’s commitment to its customers. Their hands-on involvement and willingness to ensure that the issue was resolved have not only fixed my tablet but have also restored my trust in the brand. This experience has shown me that a brand’s true strength lies in how it builds and maintains relationships with its customers. I am deeply grateful to Mr. Mohanty and Mr. Gupta for their outstanding support and leadership. I joined Lenovo because I saw a company with a strong sense of both purpose and possibility, and anticipated an exciting journey. I could not have anticipated that I would be around to celebrate my 15th anniversary at the company as of last month. I look back on a path that has been defined by transformation, growth, and opportunity. Of the many milestones we’ve tackled together as an organization and a team, four stand out to me. 1️⃣ The first was Lenovo’s rise to the #1 PC maker globally. I still remember the urgency and focus we needed to make that leap. The integration with IBM’s PC division was challenging and at times unclear. But we persevered, successfully transforming Lenovo into a global company - it’s a milestone I’m proud to have helped steer us towards. 2️⃣ The 2014 acquisitions of System X and Motorola Mobility (a Lenovo Company) were a study in contrasts. System X followed the playbook we knew, but Motorola was an entirely different story. It reminded me that different situations demand very different strategies, teaching adaptability, and the importance of continuously testing and refining our approach. The lesson was clear: never stop testing assumptions. 3️⃣ When I stepped into the role of CIO in 2016, Lenovo was shifting again. We needed to retool a team that had excelled at M&A work and prepare them for the future of the business. From mindset to approach, there was a massive shift. Yet, seeing the team embrace that challenge was one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. 4️⃣ More recently, Lenovo’s shift from a product-led-company to a services and AI-led one has been entirely transformative. It’s required us to reinterpret what customer centricity means and what it means to serve customers. Collaborating with industry giants whose decisions have the power to reshape sectors has raised the stakes, pushing us to elevate our game. But we’ve risen to this challenge, thriving as an organization and I have no doubt that we will continue to lead the way. Looking back, I feel incredibly grateful and proud. The strategy we detailed, the vision we saw - put simply, was 'correct', and from it we've built together the innovative culture of Lenovo. As I look forward, I’m still energized by the intersection of technology and business, constantly seeking how we can help do things better, smarter even. I know the path will be exciting - this transformation of knowledge and cognitive work we’re seeing in the world today will become as big as, if not bigger than, anything we’ve seen in recent years.
