Happy to share with you a wonderful interview I had with MT/Sprout,a leading business (publication) platform in the Netherlands, as part of my promotional tour in the Netherlands for the Dutch translation of Red Flags Green Flags! During the interview we spoke about today’s Zeitgeist at work and how especially younger generations connect to and engage in the workplace. Here are some key take aways from the article: 🚩 it’s a red flag when you say to employees nowadays “this company is your family” 🚩 its a red flag if you expect younger generations to be fully invested in their work. Younger generations have different priorities about work and often find it hard to deal with difficult work situations. They need balance and gradual exposure to lean into things. 🚩 it’s a red flag if you as a Gen X or early Millennial evaluate GenZ based on the values and expectations that have driven your career goals the past 20 years. 🚩 it’s a red flag if you don’t prioritize mental emotional social and financial well-being at work. The world has become so uncertain nowadays that all generations are seeking to belong to a tribe that helps them feel safe connected and proud. NOTE: red doesn’t mean run, rather red in my book means to put on the breaks and take time to evaluate the situation and maybe have a conversation with people to know what really drives and concerns them! RED stands for: Reflect Engage Decide! Though Red Flags Green Flags isn’t a management book at heart it does cover 6 chapters about work relationships and provides the reader insights to the mind of (GenZ) employees and how they feel about work nowadays! A book managers and leaders should add and prioritize on their reading list if they are serious about attracting and retaining their talent in today’s world! Thank you MT/Sprout for such a wonderful interview and beautiful editorial! Was a great experience! Read the article here (Dutch): https://lnkd.in/dUYM5Uy5
