For the sixth consecutive year I am fundraising for Hutt St Centre's Walk a Mile in my Boots campaign. August is one of my favourite times of year, not just because I get to wear my favourite colour every day of #NationalHomelessnessWeek, but also because I am able to use my skills in #socialmediacontentcreation and #storytelling to give back to my community. There is a lot to be said about the benefits of #volunteering and #fundraising, not just for how it impacts the people who rely on the cause you’re supporting, but also for personal wellbeing. 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝘀 𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝗽𝘀𝘆𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀: 1. 𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴: Connecting with my community online and in person, having conversations and meeting people with aligned values helps me feel like I belong to something bigger than myself. 2. 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆: Actively supporting a cause that is important to me reminds me that I have the power to shape the world I want to live in. 3. 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵: Watching the total miles and donations gradually build over the week helps to sustain gratification and motivate progress towards my goals. 4. 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲: Supporting my community brings so much meaning into my life and allows me to live in line with my values. Participating in Walk a Mile in my Boots also fosters my wellbeing by encouraging me to move my body, spend more time in nature and practice gratitude and reflection. When I'm giving back I feel more motivated, hopeful and generally have an elevated mood. 🧡 Hutt St Centre provides essential services for people at risk of or experiencing homelessness in South Australia. If we’ve learned anything the past few years, it’s that our circumstances can change in the blink of an eye, and we rely on the communities around us for support through hard times. This week I am walking a mile every day, and adding a mile to this target for every $100 I raise. If you would like to support my fundraiser you can donate to my page here: https://lnkd.in/g8sHMkHf #walkamile #psychologicalneeds

Did you know that over 38,000 young people aged 15–24 years presented alone to a homelessness service in 2022–23? Of these young people, almost half experienced mental ill-health, and over one-third experienced domestic and family violence. Most of these young people needed short- or long-term accommodation, and most were turned away due to a lack of capacity. These statistics only scratch the surface of issues that young people experiencing homelessness face. To have statistics like this in a country like Australia is not acceptable; together, we can have a tangible impact, and now is the time to act. #wehavetodobetter #YHMD

Our CEO needs your help to reach her target 😁 Homelessness is real, and we all can make a positive impact. Please share, donate and spread the word - no one should sleep in the cold this winter. Every donation, helps get a homeless person off the street, have access to a hot meal, and programs to help them get back on their feet. Every night, thousands of Australians experience homelessness. But it doesn't have to be that way. To help break the devastating cycle of homelessness, we need your support. Will you help our CEO to reach her target? Donating can make a huge difference to people who need it most. Together, we can make a difference! Let's do this! https://lnkd.in/gweVWi6M #homelessness #support #awareness #impact #ceosleepout

I donated $1 million to #LA4LA, a public-private partnership program spearheaded by Mayor Karen Bass. I'm so happy 58 units of long-term, affordable housing have been filled through the building of the Eaves Development. Solving California's homelessness crisis is one of my top priorities. However, let me be clear: one building with 58 units is not success for an entire program. It does not fix anything. The direct impact made on those families is priceless, but the cost of private donations is not. Public-private partnerships only work with TRUST & RESULTS. Government officials squander our money and their approach is proven time & time again to be ineffective. They don't understand how to best implement large investments because they've never signed the front of a check. The numbers don't lie: we have 75,000 homeless people living in LA County. 58 units will not make a dent. It's time for a new perspective. #CAGetACloo #California #LosAngeles #Homelessness #HousingProject #Philanthropy #PublicPrivatePartnership #Accountability #KarenBass

Matter is Riding to End Youth Homelessness On November 15th, we’re joining the Healesville Tour de PIF: Tour for Homeless Youth - a cycling challenge dedicated to raising funds to provide young Australians facing homelessness with a safe, secure home. Every night, 46,000 young people experience homelessness and half of them are turned away from accommodation services. Through the Property Industry Foundation, we have a chance to make a real difference. Every donation helps build much-needed housing and provides ongoing support for young people in need. With in-kind contributions from the property and construction industry, every $1 donated is doubled in value. Our goal is to raise $2,000, and we need your help to reach it. Let’s allow homeless youth to shape their own futures. Click here: https://lnkd.in/eynvfVwm to sponsor our team and help us make a lasting impact. Together, we can help end youth homelessness. #TourDePIF #TeamMatter #EndYouthHomelessness #SupportTheCause #DonateNow

The Prime Legacy of Global Powerhouse | Dan Murphy's | Gregory Anderson—The Empowering Influence of Empathy and Kindness in Corporate Social Responsibility: Inspiring Global Change for the Homeless In a world where profit margins are often prioritized over compassion, an individual has emerged as a beacon of hope for the homeless population through an universal commitment to kindness and empathy.
