Are there charging infrastructures, spare parts availability and ready locations where batteries can be swapped in the rural regions?
Battery range is the main challenge with almost all ebikes in Africa. I personally advise investors to put more focus on battery range, minimum of 100kms range with load either self-charging or swapping because multiple batterie swapping charges makes petrol economical
This is a move worthy of applause and implementation across the continent! 👏
This is great news - Rwanda is once again at the top of the pole!
Exciting times for sustainable mobility! How can we accelerate adoption in our communities?

3wThis only makes economic and social sense if the electric bikes are made in Rwanda , home made technology is the solution, otherwise they will dump cheap e waste in Rwanda. It's better if changes happen gradually not by decree. Again the design of the battery ( stacking them vertically) makes the bike tall. Average height of males Africans in east and southern Africa is 5.5 feet, making it hard to climb the bike or even push it. They can redesign to place the batteries horizontally to make the bike shorter .
