🙋♀️ Our ACA Ambassador Programme aims to create more opportunities for young people to lead the change they want to see in the world, and build the capacity and collective experience of ACA youth as socio-environmental justice activists. 🌱 After graduating, the Ambassador journey continues. After completing the one-year Ambassador Programme, we aim to continue our support for each Ambassador’s change-making initiatives with our Opportunity Fund. The Opportunity Fund is intended to support the sustainability and ongoing efforts of ACA Ambassadors. 📝 Past Ambassadors are encouraged to submit project proposals for climate justice projects they’d like to lead in their communities, to receive a micro-grant and mentorship to help bring their ideas to life. 🌍 In the past year, we have supported 7 projects in Zambia, Malawi, and South Africa. Across the 7 projects, over 250 people were reached and engaged in climate justice awareness, education, and action. Learn more about each project on our blog: https://lnkd.in/dyKqyaJx

📢 We are thrilled to be supporting Proforest Africa to advance Free Prior Informed Consent (FPIC) guidelines in the Republic of Congo (RoC) and Liberia. 📢 This project aims to safeguard the rights of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLCs) by ensuring their informed and voluntary consent is obtained for any development on their lands. With this funding, Proforest will: ⏩ Develop and communicate FPIC guidelines. ⏩ Create tailored communication and capacity-building materials for communities. ⏩ Facilitate multi-stakeholder consultative meetings to draft and finalize legal instruments. ⏩ Disseminate FPIC guidelines through the Africa Sustainable Commodities Initiative platforms. The goal is to foster a transparent, legally mandated process that not only respects community rights but also mitigates land conflicts. This initiative represents a significant step toward #naturepositive action and corporate responsibility. 🎤 Chiara Liguori of Oxfam speaking today of lessons learned from community-led projects to address #LossAndDamage at the event: “Communities First: Learning lessons from Scotland’s approaches to funding #LossAndDamage”, held by The Scottish Government with partners Oxfam, GiveDirectly, International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) and C40 Cities at #COP29, said: ❝ One of the main lessons we learnt is that when communities 🛖🛖 are given access to #LossAndDamage funding 💰 and decision-making 🧐 is that they can really lead the work. This results in community ownership and projects become more sustainable 🌱 and durable ♻️. When we talk about the #LossAndDamage Fund 💰 and other funding arrangements 🏦, we need to make sure that there are direct access modalities that can facilitate community engagement ➡️💸⬅️. ❞ _____ 👀 Read Oxfam's report “Communities In Charge: Lessons for the Global Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage from a locally-led project in Kenya” to find out more here: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dayzs7AC And via this blog 💻: 🔗 https://lnkd.in/ezp_3hD8

At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership. They recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests and electricity consumption across Nigeria and other parts of the world. https://lnkd.in/dJGadGW5
