Embarking on a Journey of Advocacy I intended to craft this into an article, but I'm creating a few paragraphs, as my thoughts tend to flow freely and I need just to make this brief. Recently, in a session with our Kenyan counterparts, we delved into a topic often relegated to mere obligation: advocacy. Before I spoke, I pondered the power of each one of them championing causes close to their hearts. I emphasized the importance of transcending mere affiliation with Goal Women Africa and fully embracing advocacy as a way of life. Why? Because our society operates within rigid norms, it is challenging to challenge the status quo. Yet, there lies the essence of effecting change—to embrace the burdensome path of a changemaker. After all, if it were easy, societal transformation would be effortless. To truly make an impact, one must identify gaps, champion decency, and architect innovative solutions. During our mentorship initiative, we empowered our associates to identify and tackle pressing societal issues in Kenya, they chose to end period poverty. Believe in your capacity for change. You need not reinvent the wheel unless you possess extraordinary genius. Instead, identify a problem and amplify its urgency. Yours-in-thoughts, TAD.

A while ago I got to participate in a workshop organized by the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) and the Embassy of Denmark in Pakistan for "Enabling Advocacy in Carbon Markets for Sustainable Development". The workshop allowed me to meet various impact makers who shared the same vision as I had regarding SDGs. Overall, the workshop was effective and taught a lot about carbon markets. #Workshops #carbonmarkets #sdgs #thinktank

😍 This blog is written by our young and emerging evaluator, Oyundalai Odkhuu, who shares her experiences and more. 😉 Last but not least, special thanks to the #Eval4Action, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and Global Parliamentarians Forum for Evaluation and other organizations for providing this opportunity and striving to amplify the commitment to the meaningful engagement of youth and young evaluators in evaluation. 💬 This blog focuses on how Mongolian Evaluation Association (MEA) has been supporting meaningful engagement of youth in evaluation in Mongolia through several activities such as advocacy, evaluation case competitions, advocacy to sign the Youth in Evaluation manifesto, and even capacity building of youth in evaluation. I am currently participating in an ongoing Rise Up Advocacy & Leadership Accelerator Workshop in Abuja. Nigerian population especially girls&women suffer from multi- dimensional poverty. This is one of the factors that leads to high MMR, out-of-school / drop-out girls of over 75% of the 10.5M children (UNICEF, 2023). There is need to continuous advocacy to decision-makers. While advocacy is strategic, it should be result-oriented.

Partnerships for the Goals! 🤝 🇱🇸 Today LCN had the pleasure of attending the United Nations Lesotho workshop on developing the UN Communications, Advocacy, Partnership and Resource Mobilisation Strategy. This workshop was aimed at soliciting inputs from partners on collaborative communications, resource mobilisation, and advocacy between the UN and external stakeholders to increase financing for development. Some of the contributions LCN made are: recommendations that the UN in Lesotho could collaborate with CSOs in advocacy initiatives as a tool to mobilise funds, as well as engaging more with the private sector for resource mobilisation. #PartnershipsforDevelopment #SDGs

Yesterday, at the Inaugural Socio-Economic Impact Summit we highlighted the following insights: How often do we talk about 'quality of life' as envisioned in the preamble of the Constitution? - Are we able to truly imagine a free and unified South Africa? - Do we have adequate cultural integration and social trust built in our society? - Do we still recall the Grootboom and Makwananyane case law from the Constitutional Court? - Are we still holding space for the late Justice Mokgoro's advocacy for Ubuntu in socio-economic rights? - Are we upset yet with widening gaps of inequalities in this democratic dispensation? We appreciate the JSE and Good Governance Africa for giving up the platform to interact with active citizens propelling social justice. Fantastic moderation by Itumeleng Mogale from Wesizwe Platinum Ltd. #PartnershipsWithPurpose #CollectiveTransformation
