We are delighted to announce the winner and runner up for this year’s Farm491 Challenge Prize, generously supported by Esmée Fairbairn Foundation. This year we invited companies that are developing innovative products and services to support nature friendly, multifunctional land use to apply, with substantial prize money on offer to the winner and runner up, enabling them to invest in their business and develop their product further. After overcoming strong competition to get on the shortlist, six companies participated in a final judging on 6 December at the Royal Agricultural University, during which they pitched to Professor Tom MacMillan, Elizabeth Creak Chair in Rural Policy and Strategy at the RAU; Baroness Barbara Young of Old Scone and Will Steadman, Funding Manager at Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, before a winner and runner up was declared. Congratulations, to our inaugural Farm491 Challenge winner, RegenFarmCo, and runner up, Agile Homes, who secured £50,000 and £25,000 respectively to develop their innovative mixed land use products. Regenfarm Co. supports design projects that apply regenerative food production methods to enable novel supply chain opportunities through unique partnerships with farmers, foresters and landowners. While Agile Property and Homes designs and delivers affordable, safe, and low-carbon homes using biobased materials and modern construction methods.
