A few weeks ago, we unveiled 10 outstanding startups selected for our second annual Dream Climate Tech Launchpad Cohort in collaboration with Village Capital. Each of these emerging companies are focused on improving EV infrastructure, electric transportation, built environment, carbon tech, and climate project software. Today, we want to highlight 3 of them: Airbuild Inc is dedicated to creating biomechanical solutions using algae to significantly reduce CO₂ levels and filter water for environmental restoration. NetaCarbon focuses on democratizing access to the carbon market, allowing corporations to invest in tailored carbon projects through their workflow tool. Monuments leverages a GitHub-like platform to enhance community engagement and streamline project management for climate initiatives with AI-driven tools. And all 3 are dedicated to making their innovative climate tech accessible to all, because without widespread adoption these solutions can only go so far. I had a wonderful time this morning attending the Scaleup Flanders #onemillionbreakfastclub event in #Antwerp, where Ruben of Gorilla - Energy data applications shared their amazing origin story - seemingly off the cuff and in an extremely natural and empathetic way. What did I learn? * Energy markets are in massive flux - and software / data processing is pivotal in making the transition to more sustainable energy use a reality. Software & data processing enable the flexibility that the nextgen-energy markets will require. * SURPRISE! Startups are hard - startups are very very hard, and it is a _long game_ to make it to the big leagues. * Vertical-specific (in this case: E&U vertical) data applications compete with a "build your own" alternative, mostly. Time to market and TCO are the main differentiators to that alternative. * the most determining factor in the sales cycle duration is the maturity of the customer. An immature customer will take a LOT longer to make up his/her mind. * company culture means everything. #radicalcandor to the rescue.
