Have you ever had to ponder, “How do I choose the best venue for my event?” I recommend prioritizing the following: •Location Especially if you’re planning a wedding with a ceremony in a different location, your reception location is everything! Aim to keep the commute under 15min. For corporate events location can determine other activities that the group can enjoy. •Venue’s maximum capacities Educate yourself on what the capacity means for your venue. Does that number mean you can’t have a dance floor for a social event? Does that number refer to a theatre style set up, rather than classroom for a corporate event? Can you have a buffet with the maximum guest count? Will reaching that maximum number of guests limit and affect your overall event vision? •The availability of your preferred date This one is pretty easy but you’ll want to ensure the event space is available on your preferred date, and possibly a day before or after if a pre or post gathering is something you’re considering. •Your overall budget Don’t just think about the fact that your budget falls within the quote/estimate you receive, but ensure that taxes and service charges are accounted for. Additionally be sure to know what is included with the venue- tables, chairs, linen, parking, AV are often overlooked event needs. #EventPlanning #EventManagement #HospitalityIndustry #Hotels #Restaurants #Tourism #WomenInHospitality

When was the last time you called your hotel? I dare you - call your own hotel. 📞 It's a great idea to call your hotel from time to time to check the following: 🗳️ Are the IVR menu options clear and working? 🗳️ How quickly was the phone answered? 🗳️ Was it answered well and on brand? 🗳️ How is the volume & sound quality? 🗳️ What about the on-hold music? Hopefully the phone is answered. I call hotels A LOT and in my experience, 50% of calls to the switchboard go unanswered. That's a lot of missed opportunities. #hotelindustry #hoteltechnology #Technology4Hotels #TechnologyConcierge #Hotels

Local events and festivals present golden opportunities to boost hotel occupancy and revenue! Here’s how to make the most of them: 1. Advance Planning: Align your marketing strategies with the dates of popular local events. Create a calendar to anticipate high-traffic periods. 2. Special Packages: Offer tailored packages for event attendees, such as discounted room rates, free breakfast, or shuttle services to the event. Make these offers irresistible! 3. Dynamic Pricing: Adjust your room rates based on demand forecasts. Higher demand during events can justify premium pricing while still filling rooms. 4. Engage Locally: Partner with event organizers and local businesses for cross-promotions. Feature the event in your marketing materials and on social media to attract more guests. 5. Unique Experiences: Curate unique experiences for guests, such as event-themed amenities or in-hotel activities that tie in with the festival’s theme. Stay ahead by capitalizing on the excitement and influx of visitors!

🌟 Embracing Experiences: The New Wave in Hospitality 🌟 Just read an interesting piece in the Propel Info newsletter about the shift towards experiential venues in hospitality. 🍔🎉 I think especially since a certain global event that occurred a few years ago 🦠... there's been a change in the perception of value of memories over things. More and more, people are choosing destinations like The O2, not just for dining, but for the experiences they offer—whether it’s concerts, attractions, or simply quality time with loved ones. 🌟 #HospitalityInnovation #ExperientialVenues #CustomerExperience

It is positive to see hotels (or any accommodation or restaurant business) making the necessary changes to premises in order to be inclusive of those with seen and unseen disabilities. A request I have, is that the appointed management please consult an accessibility specialist before marketing the venue as ‘accessible’. This is critical. As the video illustrates, when getting this wrong for very simple reasons, your brand attracts negative publicity which could easily have been a success story generating repeat business. #AccessibleHotels #AccessibleRestaurants #AccessibleRetail #AccessibleLiving
Booked an “accessible” hotel in Paris! BUT is it really? 🤔

While I caught this some time back on social media, I saw this banner for the first time last weekend , when out for a Onam movie watch. Thanks to fluctuating movie hall occupancies, due to poor content, PVR is looking to diversify its audience by offering the halls for conferences and celebrations.. while the halls are being pushed forward for their advanced A&V… Could these be viable alternatives to hotel meeting venues? From huge convention centres to movie halls, hotel meeting spaces are finding newer competitors entering the space. While there is a definitive advantage hotels hold in terms of product, service and dining facilities… there could be a business impact from the curious audience who could check out these options for an unique experience. What’s your thoughts ? #hotels #meetings #business #conferences #movie #cinema #revenue
