💊🐄 By keeping animals healthy we’re 𝗥𝗘𝗗𝗨𝗖𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗥𝗘𝗟𝗜𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘 𝗢𝗡 𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗕𝗜𝗢𝗧𝗜𝗖𝗦. Building not just a healthier food chain; but a more sustainable future for dairy farmers. On 33 Dutch farms (5,530 dairy cows) and 6 UK farms (1,344 dairy cows), AHV's programmes have led to substantial benefits. Through improved animal health, these initiatives have successfully reduced the need for antibiotics for udder health by 53.8% in the Netherlands and an impressive 74.8% in the UK. This reduction not only lowers costs associated with veterinary care but also supports the global effort to combat antibiotic resistance.🌍💪 Click here to read the full article > bit.ly/3wPurCw #AHV #PowerToTheFarmer

A few weeks ago, I was asked how I see optimal support during transition of dairy cows. In my opinion, the transition period is the key to sustainable dairy farming, as longevity, animal health, feed efficiency and carbon footprint become increasingly important for healthy dairy farming. Healthy dairy farming, starts with the right support towards our dairy farmers worldwide. This is what I, together with all my AHV colleagues, work for every day. #AHV // #PowerToTheFarmer

Michael Patching leading the way, as always with pain mitigation and animal welfare practices. From an ESG perspective, animal welfare falls firmly in the S space as it is something consumers (and farmers) are passionate about. Programs like Better Choices are helping farmers not only achieve better production results, but are also a step towards proving your ESG credentials on farm. Follow them to learn more about what they are up to, how they can help and how you can get involved. Side note - ESG pertains to Environmental, Social and Governance business pratices. It’s an undefined set of principles for acceptable business practice, derived from a financial meeting at the UN in 2005. These principles are changing the way global businesses and governments operate, how they report and what markets farmers and ag industries can access. I’m learning this is complex, undefined, inconsistent and enormous (where do you start), and provides both opportunities and challenges for farmers. ESG and its impacts on Aussie farmers is what I am studying for my Nuffield Australia scholarship, sponsored by the legends at AgriFutures Australia , without whose support, I wouldn’t have been able to pursue my area of interest. #esg #nuffieldag #opportunites #animalwelfare #dobetter #leadership #scholarship #gratitude #learning
Better Choices is a pain mitigation program for livestock. It is supporting the industry initiatives for all livestock species to improve either the reduction in need to perform painful husbandry procedures, or the use of pain relief when they need to be performed. Farmers care about the well-being of animals in their care. So why wouldn't we want to help them to achieve the best outcome for their animals through extension programs and troubleshooting bottlenecks in adoption such as our support for Australian Organic Limited. Argyle Foods Group is the first branded beef product to officially partner with us. But we already have thousands of members who are signed up and committed to reducing the pain in our livestock and communicating it. If you have livestock and want to join our community it is free. 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗲𝗲𝗳 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 When purchasing beef, it's essential to consider the ethical practices behind it. Here are some key factors to look for: 𝘊𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘦𝘥 𝘏𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘦: Look for labels like "Certified Humane" or "Animal Welfare Approved." These certifications ensure that animals are raised with care, having adequate space, proper nutrition, and access to outdoor areas. 𝘎𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘴-𝘍𝘦𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘗𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦-𝘙𝘢𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘥: Beef from grass-fed and pasture-raised cattle typically indicates better living conditions. Cattle that graze on open pastures tend to have a higher quality of life and produce healthier meat. 𝘓𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘚𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘨: Supporting local farms can lead to better welfare standards. Local producers often prioritize humane practices and sustainability, allowing you to trace the journey of your beef from farm to table. 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘗𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘦𝘴: Choose brands that are open about their farming methods. Transparency in how animals are raised, fed, and treated is a strong indicator of their commitment to welfare. 𝘈𝘷𝘰𝘪𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘍𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘍𝘢𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨: Be mindful of the red flags associated with factory farming, such as overcrowded conditions and the use of antibiotics and hormones. Opt for products that prioritize animal well-being over profit. The Meatery only sources from ethical farms that prioritize animal welfare. When you purchase from us, it helps contribute to a more humane food system.
