Job opportunity : Equity Analyst We are seeking a highly competent equity analyst to provide our organization with financial guidance on equity investment opportunities who will be responsible for gathering and assessing data for industry stocks and bonds, developing forecasts, and providing sound investment advice that will lead to well-informed investment decisions. To ensure success, you should have detailed knowledge of industry-related equities, the ability to spot market trends, and excellent communication skills. A top-notch equity analyst is someone who's knowledge of data modeling and equity trends will lead to sound financial decisions. Responsibilities: ·      Gathering and assessing securities data including industry-related stocks and bonds. ·      Analyzing company financial reports to determine the market performance of existing securities. ·      Using data modeling software and methodologies to create financial forecasts. ·      Assisting with company initial public officer (IPO), including stock's value, capitalization, and target price. ·      Developing and delivering investment reports to the financial manager and the investment team. ·      Providing direction and expert advice on securities to buy, sell, or hold. ·      Monitoring industry and market trends for changes and investment opportunities. ·      Staying up to date with the latest industry news including company sales and mergers. ·      Preparing detailed internal investment reports as well as external reports for public presentation. When it comes to careers in Data its worth finding a niche where you can grow and become a specialist. If you jump around from industry to industry its hard to build what I call "career equity". I made that mistake by jumping around too many Industries early in my career. After jumping around different industries, I decided to enter Banking around 5 years ago, within banking there are many different areas a Data Analyst can specialize in, for example, Anti-Money Laundering, Regulatory Reporting, Risk Analytics, Capital Management, Trading Technology, Client Onboarding, Asset Management... the list is endless. I've now met Data professionals who have stuck to 1 or 2 of these select fields and today after 10-15 years they have been promoted to very senior positions in Banking, earning salaries in excess of $500k a year My advice is to find a niche which is growing or has plenty of data challenges, stick to it and avoid competing with the masses for roles which attract low quality talent. Last week an analyst said they wanted to hire an associate who would eventually bring coverage to the bank, you know who you are, glad we're on the same page. I've built ~15 bare bones models (software and semis) to share or bring to coverage after adopting my new analyst's/bank's style and learning from them. I was hoping to differentiate myself in the job market by offering a faster time to market for initiations on said stocks or by building up the research as a franchise and bringing it to the bank in return for an analyst position (after a few years as an associate). Big thanks to my previous Managing Director / Analyst for telling me to "get to work" instead of "taking another test to prove I [you] can pass it" and to "hold onto my [your] passion". Don't worry boss, I wasn't "in a suit making everyone uncomfortable" at the conferences I've attended.
