Calling North Lincolnshire businesses! Grab the opportunity to invest in a motivated and skilled workforce by signing up to the next North Lincolnshire Jobs Expo. Taking place on Wednesday 18 September 2024 at the Baths Hall, Scunthorpe, 1pm – 6pm, the Jobs Expo attracts hundreds of jobseekers and upskillers looking to improve their prospects and develop their careers. Employers who have attended previous Expos report positive results from promoting their vacancies and engaging directly with potential new employees. Representatives from HSBC said: “It’s been a really valuable, successful event. It’s not only been highly successful from a point of view of promoting our vacancies but also connecting with local businesses and sharing information about our education programmes’ “We had 15 applications at the event and hundreds of conversations with job seekers. It is great to speak face to face with potential future employees to discuss the roles and our business.” An exit poll of jobseekers at a previous Jobs Expo found that of the more than 700 people who attended the event, the majority said it had been worthwhile them attending, with 64 per cent saying they would definitely be applying for vacancies and another 14 per cent said they were considering doing so. Exhibitors will get access to the Baths Hall from 11am and free parking is available in nearby Dene Avenue. A table and power is supplied as well as free tea and coffee. I've been having more conversations with candidates lately who have been misled about a new role and are now feeling stuck. Why do hiring managers think that this is acceptable? Consider the implications for the individual. Some people are now: - Earning less money than they were promised - Working more hours than they were told they would need to - Working at a different location than they were told they would have to - Undertaking duties that were never part of the job description - Receiving little to no training or support despite being told that this would be provided – Feeling overwhelmed and stressed by the tasks that they have to undertake Is this fair? The simple answer is no! If you want to attract and retain great candidates, then make sure that you treat them with respect at all stages of the hiring process and act with integrity by informing them of EXACTLY what the job entails before they start. If not, then don’t blame them when they walk away. #rantover #recruitment #hiringmanagers #employeeretention
