♻️🤖 The Future of Industry with Circular Economy and AI 🤖♻️ “What will the (plastics) industry of the future look like? What role does AI play? How can the circular economy drive and support revolutionary change? What contribution can society make to managing valuable resources?” The Bonn/Rhein-Sieg Kunststoff-Initiative Bonn/Rhein-Sieg invited participants to explore these and other fascinating questions, drawing an audience of around 100 guests. Among the engaging speakers was our managing director, Christian Hündgen. Moderated by Dr. Christine Lötters, the event provided insights into AI and psychology in connection with Generation Z, as well as practical examples of circular economy and recycling efforts. Alongside Hündgen’s presentation of the "Grüne Mine – Recyclingpark Swisttal" initiative, sustainable efforts from companies like Röchling Industrial and igus GmbH were also highlighted. We are delighted to see the topic of the circular economy gaining increasing attention in society, making a significant contribution to resource conservation, promoting sustainable innovations, and ensuring a livable future. Here are a few examples:   𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞: Martin Müller (University of Lausanne) and Leticia Labaronne (ZHAW Zürcher Hochschule für Angewandte Wissenschaften) are developing a management system for sustainability that can be used to measure, monitor and manage progress in a cultural institution. 🌿   𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞: Philip Brunner (Université de Neuchâtel), Oliver Schilling (University of Basel) and Rolf Kipfer (Eawag) want to model and predict water consumption in Switzerland more precisely. 🌊   𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐄. 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐢 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚: The chemical industry is largely dependent on fossil fuels as raw materials for the production of chemicals. This is shown in the  “Circularity Labs Austria” map, created by the Green Tech Valley in cooperation with the Federal Ministry for Climate Action - Bundesministerium für Klimaschutz, Umwelt, Energie, Mobilität, Innovation & Technologie, and the University of Leoben (MUL), one of Europe’s leading “recycling universities”. How #waste2value works is being tried and tested in over 25 industry-scale labs along 8 material flows.
