🎓 From law to...tech?! 🤔 When people in my current professional circle learn that I'm also a lawyer, they're both impressed and confused—'why?' they ask. ❌ Contrary to common belief, legal education is NOT about learning specific cases or statutes, but rather, about 'processing large amounts of information and exercising judgement.' 😎 This makes lawyers fit for any role that involves leadership and strategic thinking. Here's three skills I've honed as a lawyer that give me an edge NOW: 🎯 Strategic thinking: lawyers learn one thing above all; to infer patterns and predict outcomes—a useful skill when navigating industry dynamics in tech. 🔧 Adaptability: lawyers must expect the unexpected. As a leader, the ability to navigate changing circumstances is the key to meaningful execution. 🗣 Communication: the ability to parse AND communicate complex information simply (think corporate jargon to juries) is the lawyer's bread & butter. #lawyer #tech

Why everyone should think like a lawyer. "Lawyers are often seen as the most tedious of professionals. And the most derided (“What do you know when you find a lawyer up to his neck in concrete? Someone ran out of concrete”). Yet that damning reputation is undeserved: lawyers are in fact role models. The method and meticulousness entrenched in the legal style of thought has something to teach other knowledge workers and their managers." https://lnkd.in/dCBqMKW4

Why Did I Study Law? This is a question I often ask myself—not because I don’t know the answer, but because it keeps me grounded. It’s a compass that guides me to stay within the boundaries of what is just, ethical, and right. For me, law is more than a profession; it’s a calling to uphold fairness, protect the vulnerable, and ensure justice prevails. It’s about integrity, diligence, and the pursuit of excellence in every task, whether representing a client in court or advising on complex transactions. But this reflection doesn’t stop with why I studied law—it extends to how I practice it. For my clients: What can they say about me? Have I handled their cases and transactions with the diligence, professionalism, and care they deserve? In transactions: Am I meticulous enough to ensure that every clause is airtight and every detail reflects the best interest of those I represent? As legal practitioners, our work speaks volumes, not just about our skills but about our values. It’s not just about winning cases or closing deals; it’s about building trust, fostering relationships, and ensuring that the principles of justice and equity are never compromised. So, I ask myself—and now, I ask you: Are you staying true to the why behind your career choice? Are you letting it shape how you serve others? Remember, your work is a reflection of your why. Let it inspire trust, embody diligence, and deliver excellence in every aspect. #LegalProfession #CareerPurpose #DiligenceInLaw #ExcellenceInPractice #ClientTrust #ProfessionalReflection #IntegrityInLaw #PurposeDrivenCareer #InspirationForGrowth #EthicalLeadership #LegalTransactions

I’ve got another 📖 recommendation for you: „Liquid Legal 🧊⚖️ Transforming Legal into a Business Savvy, Information Enabled and Performance Driven Industry“ by Kai Jacob Dr. Dierk Schindler and Roger Strathausen, Ph.D. It’s not the latest on the market 🕸️ but still full of topics that are even more relevant 🚨 today as they were 5️⃣ to 🔟 years ago. A must-read‼️for those who didn’t get why the way lawyers (should) work today is not how it’s still taught at law school 👩🏼🏫🧑🏻⚖️🏰🧐 What seems to have been common knowledge in 2017 already 🤦🏽♀️ at least for some 👨🏻💻 in the legal industry 🤷🏼♂️ #LiquidLegalInstitute 😉 Fortunately Astrid Jahn went into detail 🔎 about this 📖 in 2023. Thx for your posts 🙏🏻 which prompted me to read it in the first place.
