Imoh Umoren, a film maker, he has been open about mental health struggles and how getting help can be beneficial. 3. Chinonso also known as Aproko Doctor, has always made healthcare accessible through storytelling, he often advocate for men to prioritize their health. Happy international men’s day.

Addressing mental health issues requires a comprehensive approach that includes adequate resources, well-trained staff, and appropriate facilities. The reduction of psychiatric facilities and services in the past has left many individuals without the necessary support, often resulting in overcrowded emergency rooms and long waiting times. Adequate funding is crucial to expand mental health services, including community-based programs and inpatient care facilities. Investing in training for mental health professionals and ensuring they are paid fairly can improve the quality of care and attract more individuals to the Raising awareness about mental health issues and reducing stigma can encourage more people to seek help early. Combining mental health services with primary care can ensure a more holistic approach to patient well-being. Providing support and resources for early intervention can prevent mental health issues from escalating. Strong policies and advocacy efforts are necessary to push for systemic changes and sustained commitment to mental health care. By taking these actions, we can begin to address the mental health crisis and ensure that individuals receive the care and support they need. Bring on the new act!

This is quite possibly one of the best things you can do for your mental health. Here’s why… 1 . Writing down our negative thoughts and feelings helps us take them out of our head. 2. We can see them for what they are, which is often smaller in size than they actually feel. 3. Throwing them away or burning them purges the feelings around them. This is a well known CBT technique to help trauma responses and how we deal with our feelings. All credit to Chris Martin for sharing that he does this on a daily basis. I’m inspired by this. Normalising how we deal with our mental health, out in the open is what we should be doing all the time. What do you think?

Staggering numbers. As healthcare professionals, let's resolve to end stigma around mental health by offering empathy versus judgement, compassion versus criticism. Mental health challenges are more prevalent than we may realize, with 1 in 4 people around us struggling on a daily basis. Let's create safe environments where seeking mental health help is normalized. Let's also move away from harmful labels. Someone is not "schizophrenic" or "bipolar" or "depressed" or "anxious" - they merely have a diagnosis and are doing their best to cope. Let's help them heal.
