🔍Addressing the Rural Healthcare Gap in South and Southeast Asia🔍 A recent study reveals a major healthcare challenge: in rural South and Southeast Asia, healthcare is mainly delivered by village health workers and primary health centers. Yet, only 4.2% to 20% of villages have a doctor within a reasonable distance. This highlights the urgent need for healthcare interventions that are tailored to local contexts and actively involve communities in planning services. It's time to bridge the gap and bring essential healthcare closer to those who need it most. The troubled state of the U.S. healthcare system is not new to any patient, provider or payer, but it can still be a shock to see just how poorly it compares to those of other nations. A recent report from the The Commonwealth Fund places the U.S. last among 10 developed countries, including Canada, France and Germany. The U.S. ranked last or second-last in most categories, including administrative efficiency and access to care. The report is a sobering reminder of just how far we must go to achieve an affordable and equitable system. Cascala can improve our piece of the healthcare ecosystem through technology that provides integrated care transitions and reduces hospital readmissions. Find out how by connecting with us. Atlantic Canada well represented on the national stage by Lee Burry from NB Health and Scott McKenna, NS Health, discussing how they are advancing healthcare interoperability. As an Atlantic Canadian, citizen, patient, father, and consultant working in this space - proud of the commitment and leadership of these two organizations in helping improve OUR health outcomes by making OUR health data available, to whoever needs it, wherever they are. #ThinkDigitalHealth #interoperability #healthdata

I love how eHealth is not only improving health efficiency and outcomes, but also transparency and personal agency for the patient.

As a physician, I’ve witnessed Canadians struggle to access healthcare firsthand, often delaying treatment for issues until they become urgent and/or untreatable. In 2015, we launched Maple with the belief that technology could play a key role in alleviating some of these pressures. While technology has indeed advanced access to care, critical gaps in our system remain, and the urgency for change grows ever greater. None of this is a surprise to any Canadian who has opened a newspaper in the past decade. It’s no secret that Canada has a healthcare access problem. But what hasn't been explored is the "so what". What is this actually doing to Canadians’ health and well-being? What does our lack of healthcare access do to the long-term sustainability of our healthcare system? Today, Maple has released a report that examines the barriers Canadians face in being proactive about their health, exploring the impact this has on them and on Canada as a whole. Spoiler alert - the impact is real and frightening, in terms of avoidable illness and death, and in terms of billions of dollars in avoidable health spending. As a healthcare strategist, I found the Commonwealth Fund's study “Mirror, Mirror 2024: A Portrait of the Failing U.S. Health System” incredibly insightful. Comparing health systems in 10 countries, including the U.S., it highlights significant gaps in areas like access, efficiency, equity, and health outcomes. Meanwhile, countries like Australia, the Netherlands, and the UK excel. Universal Coverage: Other countries ensure all residents have basic healthcare. Efficiency and Equity: Top performers streamline processes and reduce disparities. Health Outcomes: Integrated care leads to better results. we are definitely lagging behind in this area. It’s clear we need strategic reforms in the U.S. to enhance our healthcare system. Let’s learn from global leaders and drive change! 💡 What steps do you think we should take to improve our healthcare system? What are your thoughts? https://lnkd.in/gKGAcamc #HealthcareStrategy #HealthSystemPerformance #Healthcare #HealthcareInnovation #Health #USHealth
