I love how eHealth is not only improving health efficiency and outcomes, but also transparency and personal agency for the patient.

Interesting findings released by ipsos, revealing 79% of Canadians would support the expansion of virtual healthcare services provided by family doctors. Virtual care has the potential to save valuable time for the health system and patients, reduce Co2 emissions, and promote flexibility for a variety of patient needs. Most importantly, virtual care advances equitable and accessible healthcare for Canadians, breaking down geographical barriers and allowing individuals to receive timely and exceptional medical care regardless of where they live. As Canadians show increasing interest in expanding virtual care initiatives year over year, the Shared pan-Canadian Interoperability Roadmap aims to address these needs through enabling greater patient access to health records, improving provider access to patient health information at the point-of-care, and improving overall care coordination and collaboration. It has been reported that electronic medical records saved $1.3 billion over six years, improved chronic disease management and improved communications amongst care providers. Electronic health records, or connected health information through digital health systems such as diagnostic imaging, medication profiles, laboratory test results and other clinical reports produces $1 billion in value for the Canadian health care system every year.
