One of the key roles of a leader in any organization is to nurture the next generation of leaders. Helping them to learn, grow, and get better at what they do. In my decades of work in emotional intelligence and speaking with countless organizations all over the world, I’m more convinced that EI really is at the heart of leadership development and effectiveness. After all, the art of leadership is getting work done well through other people. Knowing how to recognize and manage our emotions, respond to change or roadblocks, lead with empathy, and build meaningful relationships are all fundamental hallmarks of the EI skillset.
