Change doesn’t happen overnight. It’s the small victories that keep us going. These moments inspire and fuel us to continue. Each step forward, no matter how small, matters. But don’t forget to pause and celebrate... 1. Successful community initiatives. 2. Policy changes at local or national levels. 3. Increased representation in leadership roles. 4. Recognizing these moments keeps us motivated. So, what’s your recent achievement in advocacy or community? Alisha Ally, Global Development Visionary.

Reflecting on my journey in ethical fundraising and community building, I'm reminded of a pivotal experience at age 9. Attempting to organize a Jerry Lewis Neighbourhood Fundraiser and Carnival without parental guidance taught me valuable lessons about leadership, collaboration, and resilience. My grandfather's wise counsel and guidance helped me navigate this challenge, emphasizing the importance of seeking expertise, unified messaging, and community engagement. He also introduced me to Rachel Carson's 'Silent Spring,' which sparked my passion for progressive betterment. This experience laid the groundwork for my career in ethical fundraising and community building. I've since applied these lessons to drive positive change and foster collaborative relationships. Key takeaways: - Embrace failure as a learning opportunity - Seek guidance from mentors and experts - Prioritize unified messaging and collaboration - Recognize the impact of private issues on public problems I'm grateful for the wisdom of my grandparents and the power of community. Let's continue to learn from our experiences and build a better world together! #ethicalfundraising #communitybuilding #progressivebetterment #leadership #collaboration #resilience"

So, Why Engage Youth in Community Service? Most of the times, individuals, entities and initiatives ignore the power of involving the young people on matters of serving the community. But in reality, engaging youth in community service not only benefits the community but also nurtures a sense of responsibility and empathy among young people. When these young people volunteer their time and skills, they learn valuable lessons in teamwork, leadership, and civic engagement. Community service projects such as environmental clean-ups, mentoring programs, and food drives provide opportunities for young people to make a tangible impact and contribute positively to society. How can we create more opportunities for youth to engage in meaningful community service? It's time to explore innovative ways to inspire and support young volunteers in making a difference in their communities. Together, we can empower the next generation of compassionate leaders. The word "community" is more than just a buzzword. 😤 "Community" is a term often heard, but how often do people stop and reflect on what it truly means? For Shawn Pean, founder of June79 community is about trust—a collective effort to build something bigger than the individuals involved. In previous corporate roles, the word "family" would frequently come up, but Shawn always felt that it was more fitting to describe the team as a community. The reason is simple: in a community, trust is the foundation. Members rely on one another to deliver, play to their strengths, and help minimize each other's weaknesses. For Shawn, community is not just about working together; it’s about thriving together. It's about navigating both the good times and the challenging ones, while embracing the differences that make the group stronger as a whole. 💪 https://lnkd.in/dRjNPiNX #Leadership #Community #Teamwork #Growth

Church leadership differs from the corporate world. Staff are typically vastly underpaid. And volunteers are, well, volunteering. Both staff and volunteers are motivated by their faith and purpose, not just a paycheck. This adds layers of complexity to #accountability: 1. Volunteers aren’t employees. They give their time freely, so how do you hold them to high standards without alienating them? 3. Staff are often friends. You’ve likely built strong relationships with your team, and calling someone out can feel like jeopardizing that connection. 3. The church culture values grace. Many leaders fear that accountability might be seen as harsh or unloving. These realities make it tempting to sidestep tough conversations or lower expectations. But avoiding accountability doesn’t honor your team, your calling, or your church's mission.
