This week, a powerful vision for Africa’s future leadership took shape with the launch of the African School of Governance - ASG in Kigali, Rwanda. Founded by H.E. President Paul Kagame, H.E. Hailemariam Desalegn, and a coalition of prominent African leaders, ASG is set to deliver world-class public policy education, research, and engagement programs designed specifically for the unique governance challenges across Africa.
We’re also thrilled to congratulate Professor Kingsley Moghalu on his appointment as the inaugural President of ASG. His distinguished track record in governance, policymaking, and academia will no doubt be instrumental in steering this visionary institution forward.
As a Pan-African institution with a global outlook, ASG’s mission is to equip emerging leaders with the skills, knowledge, and mindset to drive sustainable change across the continent. With support from the Mastercard Foundation and partnerships with global leaders in governance education like the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, ASG is committed to cultivating purpose-driven African leaders.
Why ASG Matters:
1. Tailored Programs: Academic pathways include a Master of Public Administration (MPA), Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA), and specialized leadership fellowships that meet Africa’s governance needs at every stage of career development.
2. Research & Policy Engagement: With research centres focused on African-led innovations in policy, trade, technology, and regional integration, ASG is a hub for tackling Africa’s most pressing issues through actionable solutions.
3. Visionary Leadership: Guided by Professor Moghalu and a distinguished board led by Makhtar Diop, ASG is positioned to redefine governance excellence across the continent.
The ASG isn’t just an educational institution—it’s a movement towards sustainable African leadership that will ensure African voices lead on the global stage.
