Today, Nathalie Moll joined #POLITICOHealthCare Summit to discuss how the #EUPharmaLegislation can balance #access and #innovation. Competitiveness and access shouldn’t be an either/or—they must be an “and”. We need to have the ambition for both. Striking the right balance is key for a healthier, more competitive Europe. How can we achieve it? •⁠ ⁠By ensuring the revision of the #EUPharmaLegislation creates the right ecosystem for the pharmaceutical industry to continue discovering, developing and delivering new medicines in Europe. That is always the first step to access. •⁠ ⁠By having the right partners around the table - the root causes behind these delays are multi factorial. Any solutions that can move us towards our shared goal of faster, more equitable access to medicines requires Member States, industry, patient groups, HTA bodies, payers and healthcare providers. We have proposed concrete measures to deliver faster, more equitable access in Europe and stand ready to play our part. Reflecting on valuable information sharing between national trade associations This morning, I had the privilege of joining an insightful conversation and information sharing between industry experts from The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) and Danish Association of the Pharmaceutical Industry - Lif - Lægemiddelindustriforeningen The conversation focused on regulatory value and access policy environment for medicines in the UK and Denmark, sharing notes on current complexities, challenges and opportunities within the regulatory frameworks and the UK's appeal as a destination for life sciences investment. This week I attended an insightful presentation from Ema Paulino and Dr Pranab Kalita at the 2024 International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) congress. A great discussion on the role of RWE in addition to RCT to support patient outcomes. It is important to think about the role of RWE and Big Data collection.
