If you have not seen them yet the new SORA video collaborations are worth checking out - some of them are really interesting. According to open AI: "Since we introduced Sora to the world last month, we’ve been working with visual artists, designers, creative directors and filmmakers to learn how Sora might aid in their creative process." We are clearly at the beginning of this journey but personally I find it exciting to have a potential new tool in the toolbox... #ai #vfx #mediaandentertainment

What does it mean to democratize art? Will AI empower artists, replace them, or something else? A new series of Sora-generated short films, made by artists and other creatives, was recently released. They're clever, beautiful, witty, touching, and they take advantage of the technology’s unique capabilities. Obviously there’s a lot of human ingenuity behind these AI-assisted works. Interestingly, in the film “Air Head” the artists decided to show no faces, circumventing the risk of uncanny changes in appearance from shot to shot. Other films, like the one by Paul Trillo, harness that same uncanniness as a form of expressionism, showing figures morphing into abstract shapes. Many of the films are notably strange and otherworldly. That seems to be a strength of Sora. One of the artists is quoted as saying, “what excites us is its ability to make things that are totally surreal.” Is this the direction that AI-generated content will go? Surrealism? And as AI content permeates the internet and even the real world, what will that mean for the surreality of our actual reality? Will our ground truth become increasingly fantastical? The release of these short films seems like a big step. What are the implications for disciplines like cinematography, acting, even camera manufacturing? In this new landscape, what does it even mean to create something at all? Will art be democratized? Should art be democratized? #art #ai #sora

New on the OpenAI blog: "Sora: First Impressions," a collection of Sora-generated videos produced by some of the creators who OpenAI seeded with early versions of Sora. Each is impressive in its own way, but by far the best is "Air Head," by shy kids, a Toronto-based multimedia production house. It has surprise, wit, story, and the kind of visual effects that only great gen AI (or expensive, time-consuming VFX) can produce. Of Sora, the company writes, "As great as Sora is at generating things that appear real - what excites us is its ability to make things that are totally surreal." I love that. Beyond imagination 💭 Some use cases of Sora outputs 🤯 The arrival of AI video models like Sora is predicted to bring a significant transformation to the video industry. It will have positive impact and challenges too: Positive Impact - Increased Efficiency and Accessibility - Faster Production - Enhanced Creativity and Storytelling - New Visual Effects - Focus on Direction vs technical aspects Potential Challenges: - Over-reliance on AI: There's a risk of video content becoming homogenized if creators rely too heavily on AI-generated elements. - Job displacement: Some video editing and production jobs might be affected as AI automates tasks. - Ethical Considerations: Deepfakes and other manipulated content generated by AI could pose ethical concerns and may have performance impact due to lack of real emotions. With all of this, AI video models will revolutionize the video industry, offering exciting new possibilities for creators. Exciting times ahead!

Here comes a milestone in the Gen Ai world of film creation. Open Ai has released some of Sora’s creation by a bunch of tester who gained first access. The results are stunning and I would like to say also encouraging to all creative minds out there perhaps a little scared by Ai. Ai is a tool and it doesn’t do anything by itself. What’s happening with this new tools is that finally our imagination it’s being completely freed by the constrictions related to budgets, to work politics and to localisations. This opens the door for so much untapped creativity about to be released. The people behind any Ai project will always remain the main difference between a great idea and a bad idea, a great film and a bad film. But no longer great talents will be battling to come out. I am so excited about what’s coming. Yes it’s a complete disruption of so many walls being carefully built and supported for decades. It’s 1989 in the world of creativity and the Creative wall Is coming down. https://lnkd.in/evQRRSvj

Technology has always excited me, the possibilities are endless. However, we all feel threatened by something new and AI is not different. I feel we need to take control, start thinking outside of the box and embrace this new technology, be creative as we have always been, allowing ourselves to build a new dimension of content creation, which is both exciting and scary. Our industry is so passionate, creative, powerful and progressive, Sora will be a super-tool for all the creatives out there to implement something different. Don’t be scared of the technological changes, embrace them and you might just find the next best thing… “Sora is at its most powerful when you’re not replicating the old but bringing to life new and impossible ideas we would have otherwise never had the opportunity to see. Paul Trillo, Director While we have many improvements to make to Sora, we're already getting a glimpse of how the model can help creatives bring ideas to reality. As great as Sora is at generating things that appear real - what excites us is its ability to make things that are totally surreal. shy kids An interesting perspective and I’m very excited to see where this goes as a creative tool” #sora #ai #film #entertainment #openai #creativetool
