New on the OpenAI blog: "Sora: First Impressions," a collection of Sora-generated videos produced by some of the creators who OpenAI seeded with early versions of Sora. Each is impressive in its own way, but by far the best is "Air Head," by shy kids, a Toronto-based multimedia production house. It has surprise, wit, story, and the kind of visual effects that only great gen AI (or expensive, time-consuming VFX) can produce. Of Sora, the company writes, "As great as Sora is at generating things that appear real - what excites us is its ability to make things that are totally surreal." I love that. OpenAi just invited a bunch of artist for early testing of SORA, the state of the art text2video model. We can not only get a glimpse what the model capabilities are, but also the huge amount of creativity, humans express with this new tools Source: https://lnkd.in/du8SKzz3 What would you create if you had the chance? As a follow-up to yesterday, here is some initial feedback from filmmakers about OpenAI's Sora. Paul Trillo's quote is probably a good summary: “Working with Sora is the first time I’ve felt unchained as a filmmaker,” The conversation so far is about the restriction to creativity being lifted from the filmmaking community. In this case, it is a short-form video, which makes sense because Sora is currently only capable of creating short clips that can be edited together into something. The conversation is an interesting starting point, but so many other topics need to be discussed. The impact on current film production needs a deeper conversation. Another issue is the intellectual property that is used to train these models. The other quote from Paul brings up this important issue: “Not restricted by time, money, other people’s permission, I can ideate and experiment in bold and exciting ways.” The elimination of copyright and intellectual property rights using AI generation seems creatively liberating until you realize that this AI model needs to be trained on original material. When Mira Murati, OpenAI's CTO, was asked where the videos to train the model were sourced, she said she thought they were publicly available but wasn't confident about that. This is a larger ethical issue, considering the countless hours and years of video created in traditional ways and published on the internet. It now serves as training data for new content without attribution or compensation. #openai #sora #AI #futureofhollywood https://lnkd.in/gqDaBgrm

Sora, the video creation AI model from OpenAI, has not been released to the masses as yet. But they gave a select few the ability to create videos with it. Directors, visual artists, sculptors, and other creative minds have given us a view into just how crazy the visual world could soon look using Sora. Of course all of the artists that were previewed by OpenAI had great things to say about it, because, PR. At least they didn’t shoot themselves in the proverbial AI hoof like some teams from Mountain View. And the results are of exceptional quality. Very high resolution videos that are visually arresting. And…weird. And that I think is the point. The artists and directors that created videos all mentioned that it gives them a freedom to create without a constraint, say, like a budget. There is no hint of the prompts they used to create the videos or how many hours were required to render what we see. Also there is no discussion of issues they faced, or comparisons with how videos are created now. We do know that will come in time. No word from OpenAI when the less talented “creatives” will be able to make some weird magic. Really cool stuff. #ai #artificialintelligence #marketing #openai #sora https://lnkd.in/gB8Wtx_4 https://lnkd.in/g83ts86x

Exciting times for creatives with OpenAI's new AI model Sora! 🎨🔥 OpenAI recently introduced Sora and has been working with artists, directors, and creatives to see how this AI tool can aid the creative process. Early feedback has been incredibly positive: - Filmmakers like Paul Trillo find Sora "unchains" them, allowing bold experimentation with impossible ideas previously out of reach. - Shy kids, a multimedia team, love Sora's ability to make surreal, abstract visuals - "a new era of abstract expressionism." - Creatives note Sora helps visualize concepts rapidly, transcending budgetary constraints that often limit creativity. - Musicians like August Kamp see Sora opening "categorically new lanes of artistry" for cinematic storytelling. The examples shared are mind-bending, from a "balloon man" short film to hybrid AR creatures. As one artist put it, Sora's "weirdness" and freedom from physics constraints is its biggest strength. Sounds like an amazing creative tool! Read more about these first impressions: https://lnkd.in/gvE8VTHR

If you have not seen them yet the new SORA video collaborations are worth checking out - some of them are really interesting. According to open AI: "Since we introduced Sora to the world last month, we’ve been working with visual artists, designers, creative directors and filmmakers to learn how Sora might aid in their creative process." We are clearly at the beginning of this journey but personally I find it exciting to have a potential new tool in the toolbox... #ai #vfx #mediaandentertainment

What's particularly impressive is OpenAI Sora's ability to understand context and engage in dynamic conversations. It's not just about scripted responses; Sora adapts and evolves based on the user's inputs, creating a truly personalized experience. This level of sophistication marks a significant leap forward in AI technology. I'm already excited about future AI-based content in the film industry. In this way, platforms such as Netflix will make more profits by reducing content production costs 💥 https://lnkd.in/dcrUrmmh
