According to recent data, over 2/3 of US employees have career gaps. For nurses, these breaks are increasingly common and acceptable—whether from burnout (affecting 3 in 10 nurses), family care, or professional development. Pro Tips for Handling Resume Gaps: • Address gaps directly in your work experience section • Frame breaks as opportunities for skill development • Highlight relevant activities during your time off (volunteering, certifications, networking) • Consider a skills-based resume format to showcase capabilities over chronology Remember: A career gap isn't a red flag—it's an opportunity to demonstrate growth, resilience, and continuous learning. #NursingCareers #Healthcare #CareerAdvice #ResumeWriting #ProfessionalDevelopment

What Nurses Do Not Know About the Current Job Search Market: 3 of the Biggest Mistakes to Avoid ✅ 1. Stop Applying for ALL THE Jobs: Quality over quantity is crucial. Applying to a large number of jobs indiscriminately can lead to burnout and reduce the chances of finding a good fit. Focus on roles that align with your skills, interests, and career goals. Tailored applications show employers that you are genuinely interested in their specific position, increasing the likelihood of getting noticed and called for an interview. Example: You CANNOT APPLY TO 5 different positions in different units at the same hospital because it confuses the recruiter/hiring manager! ✅ 2. Stop with the Generic Resume/Cover Letter: A generic resume and cover letter can make you blend in with other applicants. Customize each application with keywords to highlight relevant experiences and qualifications that match the job description. Tailor and personalize your resume and cover letter to the job description ✅ 3. Stop Waiting Around, Make It Happen: Proactively FOLLOW UP on your applications. A follow-up email or phone call can reinforce your interest in the position and keep you on the employer’s radar. Engage in continuous professional development and networking. Attend industry events, join professional organizations, and keep your skills up-to-date to stay competitive and uncover hidden job opportunities. 🌟 BONUS TIP 🌟 leverage your network!! You know more people than you think! Talk to friends, family and colleagues and let them know about your career goals/aspirations. #newgradrn #nursing #nursingstudent #nursecareercoach Book a call here to see who you can work with me: https://lnkd.in/d74gJdpZ

While we all run around saying we are time poor we are missing so many chances for energising connection. And none more so than in an interview process. In the fast-paced world of recruitment, first impressions matter. However, in the quest to find the perfect candidate, many businesses overlook the power of forging genuine connections during a first interviews. Picture this: a candidate walks into a room filled with stern faces and rigid questions, setting the stage for a formal interrogation rather than a meaningful conversation. Is that really the best way to get the most out of a potential candidate? While this approach may seem efficient on paper, it often fails to uncover the true essence of a candidate beyond their resume. At Autonomic we have embraced the concept of less formal first interviews, centered around building connections rather than checking boxes. By investing a short amount of time in building a rapport and understanding the candidate's personality, businesses can unlock a true bounty of valuable insights. Why does this matter? Because behind every resume of a nurse lies a unique individual with passions, experiences, and potential contributions that can't be captured by traditional interview metrics alone. By creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, businesses can encourage candidates to open up, showcasing their authentic selves and allowing their true potential to shine through. But it's not just about making candidates feel comfortable—it's also about easing the burden on businesses. By establishing a genuine connection early on, businesses can save time and precious resources in the long run. After all, a candidate who feels valued and understood from the start is more likely to remain engaged and committed throughout the hiring journey. So, let's shift the focus from formalities to connections. By embracing the power of genuine human interaction in first interviews, businesses can lay the foundation for long standing & engaged relationships that benefit both parties in the long term. #australianhealthcare #nurse #nursing #nursingjobs #nurserecruiter #nursementor #nursecareer #careercoach

🗣️ are you talking too much in an interview? I am writing this article because I am a blabber mouth and hopefully it will help me. 🗣️ I just got the feedback that my candidate “talked a lot.” I know this guy, he is high energy, confident in himself, and likes to share. Not in an arrogant way. But I think when people get on the phone with a recruiter or in an interview with hiring manager, execs, and/or peers sometimes they feel they really need to sell themselves. And interviews can be 30 minutes long. ⏱️ You can feel pressured to “get it all in.” Use this to your advantage. Have case studies prepared with tangible results you can speak to. 📝 Explain them clearly and slowly and let that sit in. You can always ask, “would you like me to elaborate further?” after you are finished sharing. Or say, “was anything not clear that I shared that?” Less is more. 😉 Let your successes, poise, and body language speak for itself. If you are feeling pressured to get it all in that means you are probably not prepared. 🙂 #healthcarerecruitment #leadershiphiring #healthcarerecruiting #healthcareleadership #healthcarestaffing #recruitmentindustry #recruitmentjobs #registerednurse #nursing #nursingleadership #talentacquisition #recruitment #rn #nurses #hospital

💫CAREER TIP TUESDAY💫 Keep your experience to the last ten years on your resume. EBP, technology, and healthcare in general is very different now than 10 years ago. Most jobs that were more than 10 years ago aren’t relevant to the current job market. 📝 simple homework to crush an interview I just had a client get offered a job who has never held the title of the desired role, I also sent in 8 other people before her that they passed on, and one fellow who had been a Director at reputable facilities for 20 years! So, how did she do it? 🤔 She was committed and did her homework. She looked up every single person on LI that she was meeting with on the panel interview and was able to recognize key words and ideas from their profile. She then wrote out case studies (examples) of situations she encountered where she could weave these buzz words into how she handled the situation and what the results were while explaining her philosophies/principles. This is not taking the back seat. This is part of doing your due diligence when you go to an interview. 📝 Buzz words mean more than we know…on an unconscious level. A buzz word can reflect a deep core value of ours; and when we hear it, it can bring tremendous safety, confidence, and alignment. Don’t underestimate the power of this. 🙅♂️ Do some research on the people you are meeting, and if you cannot find it, ask your recruiter or whoever is helping facilitate the process for any additional information. Just think about yourself. If you were to describe yourself to someone using 3 words and then someone you interviewed used one or more of those words and was able to show how they embody that it would resonate. The interview process isn’t about the best candidate, it is about the right fit. 🎯 You can do things that will help land your experiences, personality, and core values with someone deeply. 😊 #healthcarerecruitment #leadershiphiring #healthcarerecruiting #healthcareleadership #healthcarestaffing #recruitmentindustry #recruitmentjobs #registerednurse #nursing #nursingleadership #talentacquisition #recruitment #rn #nurses #hospital

Are empty claims ruining your healthcare resume and diminishing your chances of landing interviews in healthcare? Statements that have not been quantified, substantiated, or validated don't make your resume compelling, no matter how good they may sound. These statements usually start with these buzzwords: Innovative Transformational Strategic Clinical and administrative healthcare leaders often include these words to impress healthcare employers, but they have the opposite effect. Why? It's not the singular word that convinces hiring teams, but the evidence of HOW you’ve demonstrated these qualities throughout your healthcare career that wins over the gatekeepers. So, the next time you’re tempted to use buzzwords for the sake of it, don’t. Only include information that you can back up with substance on your resume and subsequently in an interview. #healthcare #healthcareresumewriter #healthcareresume #jobsearchadivce #resumetips #careeradvice #nursesonlinkedin #healthcareonlinkedIn #clinicalleaders #nurses
