💡 Funding Opportunity! 💡 Minnesota State Competitiveness Matching Fund Program 2024 Provides matching funds for eligible entities applying for eligible federal funding opportunities requiring a match. The Minnesota State Legislature allocated $100,000,000 for Commerce to award grant funding to eligible Minnesota entities and projects to enhance the likelihood of these entities receiving federal funding awards under the IIJA and IRA programs. Commerce is soliciting proposals from eligible entities applying for federal funding opportunities requiring matching funds, or applying for federal funding opportunities not requiring a match but for which a match would enhance the likelihood of the federal grant being funded. Projects selected for these matching funds must demonstrate that the project will help meet the state's clean energy and energy-related climate goals through renewable energy development, energy conservation, efficiency, or energy-related greenhouse gas reduction benefits. Proposals are due Friday, September 6, 2024. To view this and other funding opportunities please see: Request for Proposals (RFP) / Minnesota Department of Commerce - Business (mn.gov)

New 2025 California Building Energy Efficiency Standards (aka CA Energy Code or Title 24, Part 6) were approved by the California Energy Commission yesterday. The new requirements will go into effect for new and renovated residential and commercial buildings January 1, 2026. For the solar thermal industry new mandatory requirements for pool and spa heaters add solar pool heaters as a prescriptive compliance option (see Section 110.4 (b) and (c). To qualify, total collector area must be at least 60% of the total pool and spa surface area for residential systems and at least 65% for non-residential and multi-family. Collectors must comply with ICC 901/SRCC 100 for collectors and ICC 902/PHTA 902/SRCC 400 for complete solar pool heating systems. New Appendix JA-16 provides more details, including a requirement for product ratings. SRCC certifications to OG-100 and listings to ICC 902/PHTA 902/SRCC 400 provide compliance solutions for solar pool heater manufacturers to meet the new code. Stay tuned for an upcoming SRCC webinar for solar pool heater manufacturers to provide even more details!
