“There's this notion that the colleges we get into kind of represents the culmination of our achievements and that isn't really true.” That’s according to Sareena Naganand, a first-year student at Johns Hopkins University pursuing a degree in Biomedical Engineering on the pre-med track. Sareena recently reflected on high school and shared some excellent advice for her peers - see the comment section below for her post. “If we think about the long term and what we want to do in the long term I think we would be better positioned to make the most out of high school and not think about college and not kind of stress about that and just focus on building the confidence to do what you want you to do.” If you’re thinking about the future, here’s some advice: ➡your achievements aren’t just about where you get into college—they’re about who you become. ➡self-reflect to better understand who you are and what you’re about. ➡focus on taking small steps to build confidence towards who you want to become. ➡PathSpark

Our Biomedical Engineering program is number 1. We're 13th overall in engineering and 6 Hopkins Engineering disciplines were ranked! This year Hopkins had the lowest median student debt among all national universities, an ongoing reflection of the transformative $1.8 billion gift from philanthropist, business leader, and Johns Hopkins alumnus Mike Bloomberg to support undergraduate financial aid. The funds have helped to cut the average Hopkins graduate's federal loan debt in half since 2018. U.S. News also ranked Hopkins No. 10 for value, based on a combination of academic quality and net cost of attendance. University of Bath receives £25 million to train tomorrow’s research leaders 🪙🔍 A new generation of scientists, mathematicians and engineers is to be trained at the University of Bath to solve some of the most important social, health and environmental challenges of our times, thanks to new funding of around £25 million earmarked for the university. The bulk of this money will come from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Council (EPSRC). This will be supplemented by funding from the University, government, industry and overseas institutions. The beneficiaries of the funding – announced today – will be two Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs) led by the University of Bath: the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Statistical Applied Mathematics (SAMBa) and the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Sustainable Chemical Technologies: A Systems Approach (CSCT). The money will be invested by the two CDTs over eight years, with each centre training between 80 and 100 PhD students. The first cohort of students will start their PhDs in October 2024.
