"RWTH Innovation | Industry Meetup" highlights new approaches for #CooperationWithImpact | Last week, we hosted our third "RWTH Innovation | Industry Meetup" at RWTH Aachen University, bringing together our strategic partners for this exclusive event. Representatives from Ford Motor Company, Deutsche Telekom, TotalEnergies, Aperam, and BMW Group joined us at our start-up community hotspot, the Collective Incubator in Aachen. Dr. Jörg von Appen, Managing Director at RWTH Innovation, welcomed the partners to Aachen and emphasized the importance of interactive exchanges on key future topics. This year’s focus was "Artificial Intelligence in the Energy Sector". To explore this topic in greater depth, we invited Prof. Andreas Ulbig from IAEW at RWTH Aachen University to present the research in the energy sector at RWTH and the ongoing projects. Nikolaus Wirtz from Fraunhofer FIT also provided valuable insights into their research approaches in this area and explained various aspects of digitalization as well as the use and impact of artificial intelligence in the energy sector. Moreover, Philipp Lutat, co-founder of the soon-to-be-launched start-up xiliox, pitched their idea of an innovative AI model designed to provide fast and secure operational decisions for grid control rooms. Between the talks, we had plenty of time for valuable exchanges between partners and researchers, and we are excited about the next steps in our collaboration. Amr Eltelt followed the 2022 i4Challenge on LinkedIn and saw potential for his own company, Alat Technologies. He applied in 2023 to learn more about optimizing production and better fulfilling customer requirements. During the accelerator, Amr established a solid business plan, participated in workshops that helped Alat move forward and prepared the proof of concept. At the end, Amr could showcase Alat's progress at one of Europe’s biggest industry 4.0 trade show: Be 5.0.
