On #WorldSoilDay, we are reminded that "Caring for soils" is crucial for our planet's future. At Veolia, we're putting this into practice with our innovative soil remediation technology. 🇩🇰 Recently, Krüger Soil Remediation - our subsidiary and Heimstaden Danmark made it possible to transform a contaminated industrial site in Copenhagen, Denmark into a safe residential area. Our in-situ thermal technology removed ☠️ 350 kg of chlorinated solvents from 12 meters depth of soil, demonstrating how we: ✔️ secure a healthier indoor climate in the future apartment complex ✔️ ensure optimal utilization of the urban area ✔️remove potential threats to groundwater resources 🌱By restoring contaminated land, we are not just creating safe spaces for communities – we are also protecting groundwater resources and promoting sustainable urban development. 💪 This World Soil Day, let's commit to innovative solutions for healthier soils and a more sustainable future. 🤔 More information about #SoilRemediation ? https://lnkd.in/eJJCPgAE #aMatterofCleanSoil #ContaminatedLand #EnvironmentalServices

SYPHONIA 2024 Come and meet us at the 16th Eurospelo Forum from October 31st to November 2nd in Rome. The title of Syphonia 2024 was deliberately chosen to recall “siphons”, characteristic features often found along karstic conduits in which water flows, as in the case of the underground section of the Bussento river, located between the municipalities of Caselle in Pittari and Morigerati. The meeting will focus on the driving themes of “ Water, Caves, Future ”. Cascade organization of workshops, conferences and discussion sessions to facilitate the exchange of knowledge between caving experts and researchers on topics related to water protection ( microplastics, pollution and other emergencies );intelligent and correct use of this resource. Caves sustainable exploration and conservation actions: promotion of sustainable approaches to cave exploration, addressing crucial issues such as the impact of caving activities and environmental protection strategies; cave research: exploration of siphons and beyond, presentation of new discoveries, international expeditions. Future Implementation of educational programs for environmental protection and promotion of digital caving.

🌟 Exciting News! 🌟 I’m thrilled to share that our latest research article, "Heavy metals pollution of Pescara River (southern Italy): Risk assessment based on total reflection X-ray fluorescence analyses," has just been published in the Marine Pollution Bulletin! 🎉 In this study, we focused on assessing heavy metal contamination in the Pescara River, Southern Italy, using Total Reflection X-ray Fluorescence (TXRF). Our work sheds light on the severe ecological and health risks posed by industrial waste, particularly from the Bussi landfills. Here’s a quick overview: ✔️ We analyzed water samples for heavy metals like lead, mercury, arsenic, and chromium, revealing widespread contamination exceeding safe limits. ✔️ Pollution indices highlighted heavy ecological risks, with nearly half the water samples rated as “Very Poor” for drinking purposes. ✔️ Our findings emphasize the critical impact of industrial activities on river ecosystems and the urgent need for sustainable pollution management. This research is a step toward understanding and addressing environmental challenges affecting both ecosystems and communities. It was a true team effort, and I’m incredibly grateful to my co-authors and collaborators for their dedication and support. 🙏 If you’re interested in environmental science or water quality, I invite you to read the full article here https://lnkd.in/dPM-2VU7 and share your thoughts. Let’s work together to protect our rivers and build a sustainable future! 🌍💧 #EnvironmentalScience #WaterPollution #ResearchPublication #Sustainability #Teamwork #PollutionControl #Sustainability #WaterQuality
