Thank you RiseUp Cairo for another great event. It was a privilege to speak on what I personally think of as a very important topic: building strong founder / investor relationships. We're always aiming for the stars, but not every founder gets the choice of investors. It's important to play with what you have and make the best out of it. On a single cap table, you will have investors of different types: passive, active, industry domain experts and value add investors. Same investor could be a value add to one startup and a passive investor to another; that's normal. Don't assume they'll add equal value, or add value at all; added value is an upside and not a requirement. Transparency and openess allows you collectively to figure out at what point they can add the most value.
