As we celebrate #HispanicHeritageMonth, it's important to recognize both progress and persisting gaps in educational leadership diversity. While Hispanic/Latino representation among principals and teachers in urban public schools has increased, the numbers remain disproportionately low compared to the student population they serve. Let's continue working toward a future where our students can see themselves reflected in those who lead and teach them. #EquityInEducation #EdLeadership

“#Youth are often seen as the leaders of tomorrow, but we need to start listening to them today. It’s not enough for stakeholders and politicians to talk about youth empowerment; they need to involve us in decision-making processes that shape our #future.” I had the privilege of speaking on behalf of #youth and #students recently, emphasizing the urgent need for our #voices to be heard and valued. We are not just the future—we are the present, and our perspectives are essential for creating a more inclusive and forward-thinking society. It’s time for all #leaders to recognize the power and potential of youth. Let’s ensure that young people are not just discussed but are actively engaged in shaping the #policies that affect our lives. #YouthEmpowerment #StudentVoices #Leadership #Inclusion

Two examples of inclusive leadership in action today and yes, I'm going to give these people their flowers out loud. 1 - Alix Sampson slipping into my DM's connecting me to an emerging queer leader. Flagging someone I'll have lots to learn from and I'm excited to meet. Alix used her network as a powerful tool to help distribute relationship capital. Our networks a form of power and privilege and something we can use for good, if we are intentional about it! 2 - Cath Stone sent a thank you email with specific feedback to a group of us working on a project. It was a great example of recognizing the collective contribution of the people who collaborated on it and a reminder of the impact we have together, in service of a common goal. Small acts are not always seen but they are powerful. It's what we do when the cameras aren't rolling that matters. What can you do today that redistributes power, shows that you see someone's uniqueness and unites people with each other and/or a common goal?

I’m closing out #WomensHistoryMonth by spotlighting our AVP and DEI leader, Sucheta Misra, who recently shared her insights in Black Enterprise Magazine 📰 Sucheta talks through the challenges that women of color face in the workplace, as well as why a lack of leadership role models results in a struggle to be authentic in their own leadership style. I learned a lot from the article—I recommend you go have a read.
