Today is world suicide prevention day. There is an estimated 700,000 suicides per year worldwide. The impact the loss of one life has is profound, the impact of 700,000 is incomprehensible. We can make an impact #StartTheConversation #StopSuicide

The staff in Cayambe wanted to make a trip to the beach a possibliity for the children in the Home for At Risk Children. We decided that we wanted to take the children and all of the staff to the beach to reward them for their hard work as well as to make it be a big send off for the Delps as they transition to the US for Ministry Assignment. Most all of the children in the Home have never been to the beach even though it isn’t that far away. Additionally, some of the staff members have never seen the sea as well. We want to have a retreat for the staff and the children to be able to enjoy the beach together. The Santiago Partnership has decided to support the FACE staff in achieving this dream. The budget for the trip is only $3,000. We will be receiving donations between now and the end of May (May 31st). Please designate your donation by selecting the campaign “Home for At Risk Children.” All of the donations given to the Home for At Risk Children between now and the end of the month will be designated for this initiative. In recent months, some young people who had signed up with me for a vidped failed to show up. No message before or after. I felt very frustrated by it. Part of the problem is that there is no fee to book a slot. But, I don't want any money from young people. So, here's my new condition: "To do a vidped with me, you have to donate (at least) Rs 50 to an NGO of your choice and tell me that you have done it. No receipt needed - just your word is OK. Or, if you don’t have the money, tell me that you cannot do it, and we will do the vidped without the donation. Please send this donation-confirmation message 1-2 days before your time slot. It will be a reconfirmation that you will be present for the meeting." Let's see if this reduces the no-shows. BTW, I have not had a single senior no-show - they always let me know if they cannot make it.

The plight of a widow in India can be devastating. Grieving, left alone to care for her children, with little or no income, and shunned as someone who embodies bad luck, her circumstances are dire.
