"Commendable initiative by Secretary Dr. Sergie Bang! Assessing the potential importation of deboned meat from Brazil can pave the way for improved food security and economic growth in PNG. However, I'd like to suggest exploring local production of deboned meat as a viable alternative. PNG has immense agricultural potential, and investing in local livestock farming can: 1. Boost rural economies 2. Create employment opportunities 3. Enhance food self-sufficiency 4. Reduce reliance on imports 5. Preserve foreign exchange Local production can also ensure: 1. Freshness and quality control 2. Adaptation to local tastes and preferences 3. Reduced carbon footprint 4. Increased accessibility to remote areas Consider partnering with local farmers, investing in capacity building, and providing incentives for sustainable livestock practices. Potential areas for local deboned meat production: 1. Highlands regions (e.g., Simbu, Eastern Highlands) 2. Coastal regions (e.g., Morobe, Madang) 3. Island regions (e.g., East New Britain, West New Britain) Let's prioritize local production and explore value-adding opportunities to strengthen PNG's agricultural sector!" #DALPNG #LivestockFarming #DebonedMeat #FoodSecurity #PapuaNewGuinea #PacificIslands #EconomicGrowth #ImportSubstitution #ExportOpportunities #RuralEmployment #PNGGovernment #AgriculturalPolicy

I’m struggling to understand the decisions made by many of our bureaucrats. Our country is rich in opportunities and potential, yet we continue to look abroad for solutions to our domestic needs, even after 49 years of independence. With the wealth generated from our exports, shouldn’t we be thriving by now? Where have all our export earnings gone? Why is there such a lack of accountability, with no one questioning these decisions? Why are we still talking about the need for foreign investments when, after nearly five decades of independence, we should be economically self-sufficient, prioritizing local businesses and entrepreneurship? Haven’t we already made enough "mistakes" and "failures" to be at a point where sustainable growth should be our reality?
