From Hong Kong ➡️ Los Angeles ➡️ Salt Lake! Last week, I was a panelist at the PPAI100 NALC in Utah! 🇺🇸 What’s the PPAI100 NALC? The top 150 promotional items leaders attend. It educates on sustainability, news, and regulations. To me: → It’s a chance to grow our industry together. Rufenacht Daniel and I discussed “Impact Management”! Why? 👇 The leaders attending don’t just create billions/year. Or employ thousands of people. But they also produce hundred millions of items/year. Goods that travel throughout the world. Goods that require lots of resources. Goods that produce waste❗ So, we need to take sustainability serious. My advice: ✅ Whatever we do, let's do it right. ✅ take sustainability serious. ✅ act now! On another note... I got a sneak-peak at the rankings for the PPAI100 list. It recognizes the top 100 companies in our industry. More news about it... ...will come very very soon! 😉 All in all, this trip showed me once again: The Promotional Items Industry works together! And it lives from in person events like these. Yesterday, amfori - Trade with Purpose colleagues and I spent the day visiting members and business partners at a production site in Denmark. It was of course very interesting to learn from challenges and aspirations, check Risk Assessment results, see the industrial processes whilst analyzing the relevance and accuracy of data. Key Takeaway: Whilst Social Due Diligence efforts are targeted at certain risk areas and regions, environmental due diligence, because of its nature (for instance,measuring emissions or water use across supply chains) is more global across the table. Climate Change for instance is relevant in what many may consider low risk countries (Such as Denmark), because companies and their customers and suppliers must account for emissions on the whole value chain. Many companies are taking great steps forward, using #actionablesolutions such as #amforiBEPI. Another very important point that came out, as usual is the importance of verified data. This is where validation and auditing can play an important role, though not the only options, they are of great value Climate is at the core of data gathering, and a Multi-Tier approach is necessary to ensure good coverage, and also satisfying the growing demands of transparency from customers. Companies often can struggle with navigating multiple regulations, contexts and financial aspects. If a product is to succeed, it needs to be easy to use and to make the link. These findings are nothing new not groundbreaking but it's good to remember once in a while.
