“I want to tell him that we did it, we made Syria a human rights-respecting democracy and your life was not wasted.” Ahmad Helmi shares the heartbreaking story of losing his best friend, Islam Dabbas killed under torture at Saydnaya prison in 2013. The survivors of detention and the tens of thousands of families still searching for answers about their forcibly disappeared loved ones need our ongoing support. It's time for truth, justice and accountability in Syria. #JusticeForSyria

Recent events in the occupied West Bank are a stark reminder of ongoing injustices. Palestinian homes are raided, vandalized, and families disrupted in nighttime assaults. #EndOccupation #HumanRights The recent incident in Ramallah's Jalazoun camp, where young Palestinians were abruptly arrested, highlights the arbitrary nature of these actions. #FreePalestine #JusticeForPalestine In the occupied West Bank, the fate of these young men and the circumstances of their detention remain uncertain. It's crucial to raise awareness and advocate for the protection of human rights in conflict zones like Palestine. #StandForHumanRights #ProtectPalestinians Let's continue to stand against injustice, support peaceful solutions, and promote dialogue for a lasting peace in the region. #PeaceInTheMiddleEast #SupportGaza

OK! THERE IS ONLY ONE PERSON AND ONE PROGRAMME THAT CAN RESTORE WORLD PEACE. There ISN'T ANYBODY ELSE FOR GOD'S SAKE! RESHARING AND LIKING MY POST BELOW IS NOT ENOUGH TO CATALYSE GLOBAL ACTION! We need full support from ALL NATIONS!!! See 👇: I am not imagining things but there clearly is an overwhelming worldwide plebiscite for the following: 1. https://lnkd.in/erHnd4rT 2. https://lnkd.in/ehuS9eXj 3. https://lnkd.in/e6kDYAws 4. https://lnkd.in/eThHWCFd 5. https://lnkd.in/e6-q-Vr9 6. https://lnkd.in/dnCVjBtd 7. https://lnkd.in/eamkZ2ek 8. https://lnkd.in/eCn_-HfX 9. https://lnkd.in/eHZhuDZZ 10. Difference between the WEF & the NCBP! https://lnkd.in/eK3qBB_f WHO or WHAT can bring back peace to the world? Is there anyone else among the eight billion minus one human beings on this planet? There is? WHO? There isn't? Then I respectfully ask for World politico-financial support to rethink the world together. Then NATO would not be needed anymore. Nor would any other EU defense. A World Army would be useful in case of hostile invasion by an alien species.

It is very disheartening to know that Palestinian children were subjected to fear and terror while visiting the graves of their parents due to the gunfire from Israeli occupation forces near the cemetery in Gaza. The incident must have been very traumatising for the children and their families. It is essential to ensure that such incidents do not happen in the future International Court of Justice (ICJ)

What will you tell the next generation when they ask you what you did to stop the genocide in Gaza? Genocide is a crime against humanity meaning that it is a crime against you and I and everyone else. It is our collective responsibility to try and stop it. Are you shirking your responsibility or worse, aiding and abetting a genocide? Watch, share and like the video below

🌟 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧'𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲: 𝐀𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐕𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐖𝐚𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐭 🌟 Like many, I can't stop watching war and conflict on my screen. The impact on men is appalling and the impact on children and women is heartbreaking. But for IWD I wanted to look at the work of UN Women who has been analysing the differentiated impact of the conflict on women, men, boys, and girls and the suffering they experience in war and conflict. UN data shows that women and children unfairly carry the burden of wars. Women in #Ukraine according to the UN say health services for women are perilous - they are particularly vulnerable to trafficking, domestic abuse, and gender-based and sexual violence. The conflict in #Sudan is taking a devastating toll on women and girls - nearly nine in ten of those uprooted are women and children. Women and girls have been left struggling to access life-saving reproductive health and protection services. #Afghanistan has seen the unprecedented deterioration of women's rights. Afghan women—and officials at the UN and elsewhere—have called it “gender apartheid". #Palestinian women face immense challenges amidst the ongoing conflict. In #Gaza since the appalling events on October 7, 2023 when 1,200 innocent people lost their lives, over 30,000 Palestinians have been killed with 70% of the casualties being women or children. On our screens we see how their absence leaves a horrific void. In Gaza when mothers have to bury at least 12,300 children - our very basic principles are challenged. Not to mention all the other conflicts around the world. For women, war and such crisis is compounded by inadequate access to essentials female sanitation -and they come under the threat of greater assault. We see how women become widows and are sole providers for their families when access to food is hard. It's very difficult to understand how they navigate grief, loss, and uncertainty while striving to protect their children. Here's to International Women's Day - and to the strength of all women who persist despite unimaginable odds in warzones. Hoping for some peace 🕊️ #IWD2024 #WomenInConflictZones #internationalwomensday2024
There is no safe place in #Gaza. Tens of thousands of Palestinians – mostly women and children – have been killed and injured. With the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) we call on Israel to fulfil its legal obligation to facilitate aid operations. We need an immediate ceasefire. On Thursday, a man identifying himself as “Travis Timmerman” and a resident of Missouri, US, was found in Syria after being released from imprisonment on Monday post-fall of Bashar Al Assad’s regime at the hands of rebels. In an interview with CBS News, Travis said that he had been in captivity for 7 months after he crossed the Syrian border illegally back in the spring on a Christian pilgrimage and got arrested. When asked about the hardships of prison, the man said, “There wasn’t a hard part about being in prison, and he was never beaten. He added, “The only bad part was that I couldn’t go to the bathroom when I wanted to. I was only let out three times a day to go to the bathroom,” and that was his only hardship. US State Secretary Antony Bilken said, “We’re working to bring him (Travis Timmerman) home” during his visit to Jordan on Thursday to discuss the political situation in Syria. Furthermore, he told reporters in Aqaba, “I can’t give you any details on exactly what’s going to happen except to say that we’re working to bring him home, to bring him out of Syria. I'm excited to share SJAC's newest report, which explores perspectives from local communities in Northeast Syria on post-ISIS justice processes. While there is a growing international consensus on the need to close down Al Hol camp and resolve the indefinite detention of imprisoned alleged ISIS fighters, we rarely hear from people in the communities who would potentially be welcoming these individuals back. SJAC's focus group discussions across Hassakeh, Deir Ezzor, and Raqqa raised interesting questions such as: Which ISIS affiliates should be prioritized for trial? How can criminal trials be integrated with existing tribal reconciliation processes? and How can returning women and children get the support they need without creating resentment within host communities? The report ends with a series of recommendations based on community feedback. We hope this will be seen as just a first step in designing justice and reconciliation processes that are responsive to the stated needs and priorities of local communities. https://lnkd.in/eVAD_S9t
