On behalf of the project team, we would like to extend a thank you to everyone who participated in our Marine Energy industry workshop that was held this week. We appreciate all of the valuable feedback that was provided to help further our research as part of our project for the Ocean Energy Safety Institute. If you were unable to attend the session but would like more information regarding the work that has been undertaken, please do not hesitate to reach out to Andrew Kilner. When I started Oceantic Network 11 years ago, I was motivated by the confident belief that offshore wind would be an economic and environmental game-changer for the U.S., helping to satisfy the country’s need for clean energy that harnesses American ingenuity, manufacturing, and maritime expertise. Yet even my biggest dreams are being eclipsed by the incredible progress we’re seeing today. Two commercial-scale projects in operation, three more under construction, and more than $2 billion in supply chain investments made in the last six months alone. That's just a sliver of the accomplishments we’re recording: - The industry’s supply chain today spans 37 states, representing $23 billion in investments and thousands of well-paying American jobs. - Steel plants in seven states, including in the American rust belt and Midwest, have been contracted to support the industry’s vessels. - Over 50 newbuild and retrofitted vessels have been announced, delivering at least $1.7 billion to 13 U.S. shipyards across eight states, from the Gulf of Mexico to the Great Lakes. - State demand and bipartisan support continues to remain strong. It’s incredible progress, but now consider how those numbers will multiply with the pipeline of projects approved and under review. Oceantic Network is tracking and reporting this data to help the U.S. understand the massive economic potential of an industry that for decades has safely and successfully operated more than ten thousand offshore wind turbines across the globe. Now is the time to ensure your state, your community, and your business are part of this incredible economic story putting Americans to work today for our energy future. https://lnkd.in/d9EKjheW #offshorewind

Netherlands has a history of dealing with the ocean (Dykes etc.) but they also look at it as an offshore source of power. So, it is no surprise that EMEC: European Marine Energy Centre are collaborating with Florida Atlantic University’s (FAU) Southeast National Marine Renewable Energy Center (SNMREC) h to look at marine power generation (Also involving 3U TECHNOLOGIES, LLC, 48 North Solutions, Inc., IDOM USA and Braid Theory ) The power output is not a topic of debate - it is the long-term operation, maintenance and reliability that is still difficult - usually on static parts, attachments and access hatches as the sea loves to encrust & corrode. #marine #renewableenergy #generation https://lnkd.in/gJSp7yyM

Heerema has signed a reservation agreement for the Polish offshore wind projects Bałtyk II & III. The scope of work appears to include foundation installation and substation installation. The Polish projects Bałtyk II & III are a joint effort between Equinor and Polenergia, with a total of 100 turbines expected to produce a capacity of 1440 MW. The project will utilize monopile foundations, which Heerema will install. Heerema's investment in the Thialf, equipped with a motion compensation gripper for monopile installation, increases the likelihood of Thialf being assigned to this project. Bałtyk II & III are part of several projects scheduled to become operational in the coming years. Image source: Heerema Marine Contractors Equinor | Polenergia

🏋️Heavyweight engineering solutions are building US offshore wind. Moving six new transition pieces (TP) from Denmark to the US East Coast requires extensive planning and expert execution. Each of these six TPs: - Weighs 540-570 tonnes (around 90 elephants) - Is 30 metres tall (the length of a basketball court) - Is 8 metres wide (comparable in length to a classic London bus) The scale of this project is further proof of the country's commitment to offshore wind development, which continues at pace despite recent speculation. https://lnkd.in/eWZMnkYd #USoffshorewind #offshoreengineering #Virginia #transitionpiece #offshorewind
