Stay Straight and Fly Right A military pilot's experience is a great visual. While flying he is instructed on the necessity of watching his “attitude.” In aviation, “attitude” refers to keeping the aircraft level. Which means for a pilot paying attention to keeping the correct nose attitude of his aircraft is essential to how well it flies. It is where the aircraft nose points above or below the horizon. It is about balance of the plane by its best position. The pilot knows when he sets his nose attitude properly, his desired air speed stabilizes and his path doesn't look like a flopping dolphin across the horizon but flies in a smooth balance. It's a good image to have for your own personal attitude. Keep your attitude a balanced smooth and steady movement across your life.

For James Viola, president and CEO of Vertical Aviation International, it’s decades of dedication to advancing U.S. aerospace, marked by unwavering patriotism, integrity, and leadership. The National Aeronautic Association (NAA) has recognized these qualities by naming Viola a 2024 recipient of the Wesley L. McDonald Distinguished Statesmen of Aviation Award.  Presented annually since 1954, this prestigious honor celebrates individuals who have significantly contributed to aerospace for over 20 years. Viola’s exceptional career spans policymaking, safety initiatives, education, and US Army special operations, earning him a reputation as a champion in the aviation sector.  Reflecting on the recognition, Viola shared, “It’s an absolute honor to receive this recognition. This award both acknowledges my past contributions and inspires me to continue advocating for the advancement and safety of the aviation industry.”  NAA president and CEO Amy (Spowart) Marino added, “Jim’s achievements are a testament to his steadfast dedication and leadership in aviation. Dassault Aviation announced the creation of a new company, Dassault Aviation MRO India (DAMROI), dedicated exclusively to the maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) of its military aircraft. Based in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, DAMROI will support the Indian Air Force’s Mirage 2000 fleet and other Dassault aircraft. The move aligns with India's "Atmanirbhar Bharat" initiative, aimed at boosting self-reliance in defense. In addition to offering tailored MRO services, DAMROI will contribute to India’s aerospace ecosystem under the "Make in India" and "Skill India" policies, focusing on training and industrial collaboration. Another milestone in Noida's development! Dassault Aviation's MRO Facility to be set up Near Jewar International Airport. In a significant boost to India's Make-in-India initiative, French aviation major Dassault Aviation SA is acquiring land near Jewar International Airport to establish a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility for Mirage 2000 and Rafale fighters. The Emmanuel Macron government and Dassault have formally offered to manufacture Rafale fighters with locally sourced components in India. With existing base maintenance depots, repair facilities, and simulators in place, India's defense infrastructure is well-prepared to support this growth. This development not only set to strengthen India's defense but also opens doors for export opportunities, reinforcing the strong ties between India and France.
