In a major boost to the #defenceMRO sector in India, Lockheed Martin has come together with Tata Group to establish an MRO facility for Indian Air Force super Hercules fleet. This news comes on the backdrop of #IAF's contract for 80 Medium Trasport Airport. #Lockheed has clarified that they will establish a manufacturing #facility and assembly if they bag the IAF contract. This agreement is expected to bolster India’s #defence and #aerospace capabilities and comes days after Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s US visit.                                                       The #IAF is looking to acquire up to 80 #MTA and issued a request for information ($RFI) last year. #LockheedMartin has responded to this, noting that the C-130J-30 Super Hercules is well-suited for this purpose. Meanwhile this agreement is hailed by the aerospace stakeholders in India as a key step towards developing India's #MROecosystem. Indian MRO space is growing, inch by inch- day by day. After IAI - Israel Aerospace Industries decision to come up with an MRO facility in India, another OEM, this time Dassault Aviation is all set to acquire land near the upcoming Noida International Airport to build an #MRO facility for India's Mirage 2000 and Rafale fighter. The #MROfacility at Jewar will also overhaul older Mirage 2000 jets in India, for which India is going to several countries to acquire older #airframes for cannibalisation. The Indian Air Force already operates 36 #Rafalejets, which were bought in 2016, India's most technologically advanced jets. The Indian Navy is also looking to buy 26 of these jets worth $5 billion. A negotiating team for deciding the final price of these jets was earlier in India. Dassault is also in the race to sell 114 fighter jets to #IAF under the multi-role fighter aircraft (#MRFA) contest.
