HEARTH: Proudly supporting our transitioning service members! In Fiscal Year (FY) 2023, a quality improvement demonstration project called the Help with Employment, Agency, Risk, Transitions and Housing (HEARTH) Project was initiated to enhance the existing Post-9/11 M2VA Case Management Program process. The HEARTH Project is utilizing a predictive analytics model to identify Army Veterans at highest risk experiencing negative transition outcomes. A virtual, national VHA transition of care team proactively outreach to these high-risk Veterans who have been identified by the HEARTH Project’s predictive analytics model. The desired outcomes for the HEARTH Project include: (1) enrolling Veterans at their local VAMC; (2) connecting Veterans with either a VA or non-VA based primary care team; (3) promoting successful Veteran reintegration into civilian society, such as through securing employment and housing; and (4) linking Veterans with suicidal ideations to appropriate services and care. In the linked article, a HEARTH Veteran shares how his HEARTH social worker supported him when he needed it most.

Today, we honor the courage and sacrifice of all veterans! Veteran homelessness increased by 7.4% in 2023 - VA News. Here are 4 ways you can assist veterans to ensure they have a smooth transition back into civilian life and decrease this disheartening statistic. #1: Support Veterans' Organizations: Contribute to nonprofits and charities that provide essential services for veterans, such as housing, healthcare, mental health support, and job training. Organizations like the Wounded Warrior Project, Disabled American Veterans (DAV), and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) directly assist veterans in need. #2: Advocate for Veterans' Rights and Policies: Engage in advocacy to ensure that veterans receive the benefits and support they deserve. Contact your local representatives, participate in campaigns, and support legislation that improves healthcare, mental health services, and job opportunities for veterans. #3: Volunteer Your Time: Many veterans’ organizations rely on volunteers to help with events, mentoring, job training, and providing company to veterans. Volunteering at local VA hospitals, shelters, or veteran resource centers can make a direct, positive impact on their lives. #4: Hire or Mentor Veterans: If you are an employer or business leader, consider hiring veterans and offering career mentorship. Veterans bring unique skills from their service that are valuable in the workforce. Providing opportunities for employment and career growth can help veterans transition back to civilian life. Thank you for your service and dedication to our nation. #VeteransDay #ThankYouVeterans #HonoringHeroes #NikaWhite

The VA and DoD Don't Have a Funding Problem. They Have a Mismanagement Crisis. (Opinion) The $328.1 billion 2024 budget for the Department of Veterans Affairs is the largest in agency history. President Joe Biden's 2025 budget for the VA asks for yet another increase to $369.3 billion. If enacted by Congress, the 2025 proposal would represent a 668% increase in the VA's budget since 2001. Let's not forget we, the United States, were also at war for over 20 years! There is a cost for that. What that translates to is over 2 million served in Afghanistan and Iraq, spending 1 out of 3 years serving overseas and 60% are under the age of 34. Still relatively young...wait until they get older and things start hurting that never hurt before. I think the entire VA Disability Compensation process should be turned on its head and completely revised. Why not take some of that money and engage with some high speed consultants and leverage technology and best practices and fix the process...streamline/modify the process, establish metrics, retain the high producers and get rid of the low producers. Any Veteran that has filed for disability has gone through this very inefficient process. What would you change/add/delete/modify? https://lnkd.in/e3TvFPWT #VETLANTA #Veterans #veteran #veteranshelpingveterans #veteransupport

Government boosts support for veterans ahead of Remembrance 🇬🇧 Government Boosts Support for Veterans Ahead of Remembrance Day 🇬🇧 This week, the UK government announced a new £3.5 million commitment to support veterans at risk of homelessness, with funding for programs that provide wraparound services—offering mental health support, job assistance, and housing aid. As the nation prepares to honor those who’ve served, this funding ensures veterans not only have housing security this Christmas but well into 2026. Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated, “Veterans represent the very best of our country, and we must honor their sacrifices. They’ve safeguarded our freedoms; it’s only right they have security of their own.” Today, veterans and their families will gather at Downing Street to share their experiences. This pledge extends the “homes for heroes” initiative, supporting veterans' access to social housing without local connection requirements. As Remembrance Day approaches, we recognize the dedication of our Armed Forces and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice. This commitment is one way we continue to serve those who served us. https://lnkd.in/eJ2pK2NX #RemembranceDay #Veterans #SupportOurHeroes #UKVeterans #HomesForHeroes

3moPropaganda!!! The issue will always be VHA! Until Veterans healthcare is accessible, equitable, and consistent Veterans will continue to be in the revolving door that is needing healthcare and housing at the same time as a Disabled Veteran specifically!!
