Spending today with our partners European Disability Forum for the 4th Annual #EUAccessibilitySummit. Conversation are bringing together public sector, industry and Disabled Leaders to consider the promise and challenges of AI. The blog below highlights just some of the considerations.

Today, May 15, 2024, the U.S. Access Board signed an MOU with the American Association of People with Disabilities and the Center for Democracy & Technology. The goal: to ensure the disability community is part of conversations around AI and have access to AI-related education and resources. To achieve this, the focus will be on: 🤝 Promoting solidarity, relationship-building, and information sharing across disability and technology communities intentionally, through specific opportunities to connect. 💡 Mapping potential or existing civil rights concerns, accessibility barriers, and risks stemming from AI and identify solutions to combat them. 📣 Offer information, technical assistance, and resources that will bolster efforts by the disability and technology communities to promote and create safe, equitable, accessible AI. #AI #disability #technology #accessibility https://lnkd.in/eRbb7Gps

From AI-powered tools like real-time captioning in meetings to smart accessibility features in apps, technology is opening doors for disabled people in workplaces – but there are challenges too, and concerns that AI may even make it harder for disabled workers to find employment. A new research study by EY shares how technology is changing experience for neurodiverse in the workplace. The results, while early are overwhelming. 91% saw copilot and AI as a game-changing assistive tool, and 85% believe it creates a more inclusive workplace. Now this new research from EY is interesting and well worth a read for any employer. EY heard from 300 employees who identify as disabled or #neurodivergent, in organizations around the world. It illustrates how AI, is helping people with disability in the workplace, participate more fully and further thrive in their jobs. It’s helping to create a more inclusive workplace. #Copilot was described by some respondents as a “game-changer” and you’ll see from the powerful stories shared with the research team, how these changes have been transformative for them.
