Compelling message and an easy call to action: Anyone can participate in Closing the Dream Gap. If you’re unsure where to start, here are some ideas: - Start including the pronoun « her » when talking about fictitious CEOs/Engineers/etc - Start showing pictures of women on power point slides when discussing personas such as CEOs/Engineers/etc - Celebrate female family members and colleagues in their career and successes. - Swap the vacuum children’s toy for a microscope (like my parents did when I was a kid) - Become a mentor - Volunteer at associations such as Girls in STEM or Girls Leadership. There is so much more and you don’t have to do it all. Do your sister, daughter, mother or wife a favor, and take a step towards closing the gap.

IDENTITY SHAPER Identity work begins in childhood. Our perspectives around who we are and what we can do is being impacted by our environments. This video shows the impact of the environments around us. It shows how bias can limit or even block the potential in others, it this case our girls! We have a choice to support identity work that will build future leaders to be inclusive and support everyone in belonging. We can close the #dreamgap for our children and also close the gap in our organizations. It’s never to early or to late to grow. This gap is not just about our future generation… it’s impacting millions of adults as well. Let’s do the identity work. At IDENTITY DYNAMICS we support leaders in doing the identity work to develop their leadership effectiveness. I can do that! Let’s all commit to sharing our career journey’s so that younger generations can identify “That is possible for me too”. I am less interested in the trademark associated with this video and more interested with the messaging and alledged statistics mentioned. Imagine the possibilities if everyone believed that their full potential can be realized however they imagine it to be. Inspire people by sharing your bold career highlights and purpose. Give courage to those who doubt what the world wants from them. Not sure how to write your career story? Have you seen this thought-provoking message from #barbie and Mattel, Inc.? I see the Dream Gap in action ALL THE TIME in the aspiring female MBAs I talk to. I work with fewer women than men when it comes to applying to the most selective MBA programs - Stanford University Graduate School of Business and Harvard Business School. In last year's Graduate Management Admission Council™ (GMAC™) Prospective Student Survey, there was this finding: 𝑴𝒆𝒏 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆𝒍𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏 𝒘𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒓𝒆𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝑪𝑬𝑶 (31% 𝒎𝒆𝒏 𝒕𝒐 25% 𝒘𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒏) Think about it. Even among the self-selected group of highly educated, aspiring leaders, women less often aim higher. How do we collectively help close the Dream Gap? What will it take? #confidence #businessschool #mba

Friday Musings... When I saw this, I was moved, touched, and inspired. So many in our corporate world are demonstrating this behavior on a daily basis -- this bias is very real. Sure, we know it's not right, and we often just stand or even ignore what is happening -- when we should be doing something about it. But guys, what are WE doing about it? Two suggestions: 1) Be in COMPLETE integrity about your own actions, and if you find any piece of this bias in your own speaking, get to work on it and be intentional about transforming it! For many it was how they were raised, but it is not who you are - we can do a whole lot better. 2) Say something when you see this happening in front of you. It's as simple as saying to someone who is unaware of what they are doing, "that doesn't sound right, is there another way you could phrase that?" - see if the person you're talking to "catches on"! If someone is way out of line and you are a witness to their actions, be courageous and let someone know what you are seeing. We don't have to wait around for those under the oppression of this type of bias to step forward on their own. For me, when I saw these young girls articulating this message so powerfully in the Dream Gap Project video by Barbie, I felt it more deeply than I ever have before. I know from the conversations I have with the women in my life that this is a very real and correctable problem that we can remedy. #barbie #dreamgapproject #hypewomen #women #wellbeing #leadership #menandwomen #genderbias

IT'S THE INT'L DAY OF BOY CHILD, TODAY 😍 It dwells on me that discourses on gender-based #disparity have, usually, been narrowly conceived to suggest female #disempowerment and disadvantage against their male counterparts, making the narrative of gender appears more like a female solely-based issue. This, therefore, necessitates the need to view the reality of gender-disparity via a broad lens, recognizing it as a concept that, as well, captures the boychild's #rights and #wellbeing. With providing every child equal access to quality life through the power of #learning, PlungeSmile is offering every boychild the opportunities to thrive and unlock their limitless #potentials. Collaborate with us to #empower more boys, as our contribution in the quest of reshaping our futures. Celebrating #InternationalDayoftheBoyChild! At Plungesmile, we recognize the incredible young men in our lives, brimming with potential and future leaders. Together, we can empower the next generation of boys to thrive. #InternationalDayOfTheBoyChild #EmpowerBoys

"The better you get, the harder it is to get better." "What worked in the past won't work in the future." "How do you make a human's performance better... given that people can only be the best they can be." Words from learned experience on delivering high performance in elite sporting environments from Sir Dave Brailsford (now Director of Sport for Ineos, best known as the Performance Director for GB Cycling and Team Sky when they were so dominating). "Goal alignment is needed more than team harmony... with it you can win even if not everybody likes each other all of the time." "If you want other people to perform it's important that you understand you need to be a solid rock of consistency... react in the same way, have the right attitude all the time... and you can choose your attitude every day." Commitment + Ownership + Responsibility (& Accountability) > Excellence [CORE Principle] The philosophy of 'Marginal Gains' > The overall scaling benefit on performance from delivering small improvements wherever possible throughout the end-to-end. e.g. improving the sleep quality of riders in the Tour de France by bringing their own pillows, mattresses and beds to each of the hotels they stay at for each of the nights of the race, to enable a better racing performance every day. "Give recognition and reward for effort as well as success." "Focus on the steak [the fundamentals], not the peas [the extras]." #leadership #strategytoexecution #peopleleadership #peopledevelopment #peoplestrategy #coaching #mentoring #growthmindset #futureofwork #thinkingoutsidethebox #buildingthefuture #daretolead #thinkingdifferently
